The air is still sweet with the courage of the young men going off to the Enlisting Station, Men full the street cheering and chanting other men to join up. I look back to my glass and notice that it is still empty, "Another one here Bruv' ", I say in a loud tone. "I think you've had one to many lad!" I looked behind myself in awe at who seemed to be a man in khaki, his medals where lit with the still burning lamp and his hair combed to the side, I could see the amount of Grease he put into his hair. He handed me a letter saying

To Johnathen Connolly
You have been chosen for conscription to the 101st Rifle regiment, you will be expected to arive in 0800 hours at the Western Cork training camp.

"Bugger!" I said out loud, "Sorry lad, but the war waits for no man." Said the Officer. I looked at what appered to be a woman and a child in a picture he was holding. "Me wife and new born Daughter",he said in a rather dark and depressed tone, thats when i realised what pain this would bring me mum and me sister. "The best way to get over the anxiety is to go into every battle thinkin' that you will be killed", said the officer, "Thanks for the advise", I said in a rather sarcastic voice. "Lets get you sober and in bed mate", he said as he picked me up.
