Adventures on our days off were a tradition for the cast of Newsies on Tour. Because of the little amount of things to do in Nebraska, me and some of the guys decided to take a little road trip.

We looked up some cool places to drive to, and came across this "haunted" barn. With noting else that looked interesting, we got Starbucks, of course, and piled into a rental car.

"I don't wanna go," Ben whined, "I'm scared."

Nick laughed, "Are you 17 or 12?"

"You guys know I don't like ghosts." he replied.

I scoffed from the front seat, "Ben, ghosts aren't real."

The 4 boys gasped, "Mikayla!"

"What? They aren't real."

Josh sounded very serious about this topic, "Ghosts are 100% real, missy. And just for saying they aren't, you're going to see one at the barn."

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not going to see one because they don't exist."

"Whatever," Nick and Sky answered, not understanding my logic.

We pulled off of the highway and drove for 10 more minutes before turning onto a dirt road that would lead to the barn. There were several signs that said 'private property,' making me a little nervous. If we get arrested or something I could get kicked off the tour.

"Guys," I said wearily, "maybe we should turn back."

Josh laughed from the driver's seat, "Ooh, Mikayla's getting scared now, huh?" The three boys laughed from the back seat.

"Of course not," I replied matter-of-factually, "I just don't want to get arrested, or killed."

Ben nodded, "Yeah guys, maybe she's right. I think we should just go back to the hotel and watch Frozen or something."

Nick and Sky punched his arms on both sides, causing him to scream.

"Ben, shut it!" I cried, looking around to see if there's anyone who could hear.

Nick patted my shoulder from the seat behind me. I exchanged a worrying glance with him, and he winked. No one knew we had been dating, even if it was only for less than a month. Him being here was the only thing keeping me sane. Yeah, I don't believe in ghosts, but trespassing and going into haunted barns doesn't exactly excite me.
I smiled, reassured that he was going to be with me all night. Hopefully these other 3 knuckle heads don't find out anything about us.

After parking a few yards away from one of the smaller barns, we got out and slowly walked towards the ominous shadow. We shuffled in a big group, all of us holding onto the arms of each other. I could hear each and every one of the boy's breathing, and I'm pretty sure I could hear Ben's heartbeat next to me.

"I don't wanna do this," Sky whispered, his hand gripping mine even harder. I nodded in agreement, even though I'm sure no one could see me. He repeated the phrase a couple of times.

Josh turned towards him, "Sky, stop being such a wimp!"

Nick grabbed a hold of my free hand; the one that Sky wasn't strangling, and squeezed it.

As we approached the building, I noticed something move out of the corner of my eye. Ben saw it too apparently, seeing as how he screamed, and started running towards the barn, banging on the door.

Josh wanted over, taking the handle and pulling it open dramatically, to make fun of Ben not realizing it was there.

"Jeez, it was probably a squirrel or something, You guys are such babies," he said.

Josh walked in, Ben holding onto one of his hands, and gripping his arm with his other hand. I laughed gently. Their relationship never failed to make me laugh.

Sky ran ahead, grabbing onto Josh, leaving Nick and I behind. We decided to walk through the first barn and head over to the biggest one, which was supposedly the 'haunted' one.

After walking around for a while and not finding anything interesting, we decided to walk up a ladder and sit along the edge of the upper story.

I laid my head on his shoulder, and he entangled our fingers.

"I want to tell the boys," Nick blurted.

My head perked up, "Tell people...?"

"About us."

A huge smile erupted on my face, and I pressed my lips against his. He kissed me back, smiling against my face.

A loud set of screams interrupted our
semi-perfect moment, so we climbed back down the ladder and jogged back over to the first barn.

"Ben, Josh, Sky!" I yelled, hoping to find the boys.

A figure, not the size of one of my friends, ran out from behind one of the barn walls, coming right towards Nick and I.

"Run!" He screamed, grabbing my hand and sprinting the other way.

We ran for what felt like forever, until all of a sudden, I ran straight into someone, hitting my head on theirs, and falling backwards.

Someone shouting, "Mikayla! Ben!" was the last thing I heard before my eyes shut.

I woke up who-knows-how-long later in a super bright room, with someone holding each of my hands.

After the blur in my eyes cleared, and I could actually see, I sat up a bit and looked around. As it turns out, I was in a hospital room, with Ben on one side of my bed and Nick on the other.

"How are you doing?" Ben asked, "I can't believe I ran into you, I'm so sorry, Mikayla."

I laughed, "Don't worry about it Benji."

A doctor came in, carrying a clipboard, "Hi, Ms. Nolan," I smiled, "It appears that you bumping into Mr. Cook has left you with a slight concussion. Your boyfriend did let me know about your dance career, and it is definitely necessary that you take off a few weeks. 14 days on a concussion prescription and minimal events that could worsen your condition should leave you good as new. Just make sure you see a doctor in the next city you're in." He wrote a prescription for me and headed out the door, leaving the gang and I ready to leave.

"Boyfriend?!" The other three guys yelled together.

I winced, my head still hurting, but I smiled.
"We were planning on telling them tonight," I said to Nick.

The boys held their composure until we got outside, and then they all began screaming,
"Mikayla and Nick sitting in a tree,
k-i-s-s-i-n-g..."
