Dan's POV

"Guys," I said in a serious tone, "we won't be able to afford this place if we don't rent out the last room."

Our apartment building had just raised the cost of rent, and now three unemployed guys living off of what we made during Newsies is not going to be enough to keep us living here.

Ben nodded, "I say we let a girl in, ya know, to make us cleaner and more gentlemen-like," he said, very serious as well.

Josh and I laughed, "You just want a girl here so you can-"

"Josh," Ben snapped, "do not finish that sentence. I'm serious. I think it would be good for us. Doing that," he said, gesturing to what Josh was inferring, "can be off-limits."

After contemplating about it for the rest of the night, we decided to hold interviews for a 4th roommate; a girl. I made up a flyer with some details. She would have to be over 18, of course, and be willing to pay her full quarter rent. Other than that, we were open to pretty much anyone.

The next day, we received about a dozen phone calls with questions about the apartment. We had them all come at different times during the next week, but it was hopeless. The three of us didn't like any of the 11 of them.

Finally, right before the last girl's interview, we were close to giving up. Hopefully this girl Julia can change our minds. There was a knock on the door, and Ben went over to open it.

"Hi, I'm Julia. Do you guys still need a roommate?"

I made eye contact with Ben, then with Josh. This girl is the one. She's gorgeous, and definitely looks like she would be good to keep us three boys sane.

After interviewing her for about 15 minutes, we exchanged glances again, and then all stood up.

"We'd like to offer you the room," I said, holding my hand out for her to shake it.

She smiled, making my heart melt. I know we agreed on no funny business with the new roommate, but I couldn't guarantee anything. "I'll take it!"

We set up a time for her to move in early the next morning, and then she was gone.

As soon as we saw her get into the elevator down the hall we ran back into the room, all shouting, "DIBS!" at the exact same time.

"It was my idea to get a girl," Ben explained, "I get her."

Josh pushed him onto the couch, "It was also your idea to not do anything with her, so I get her.

I spoke up, "I'm closest to her in age, so I get her."

We argued almost the rest of the night, eventually falling asleep on the couches to some random baseball game.

Julia's POV

The next morning, I happily packed up all my stuff from the cheap hotel room I had been staying in, and headed over to the boys' apartment.

After knocking on the door, I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes. They did say 9, right? That confused me a little; why would they want me moving in so early? They're probably all still sleeping.

I knocked again, only after debating it for 5 minutes. I don't want to be rude to them before I even live here. I heard shuffling from the other side of the door, before the blonde one, Ben, turned the handle, rubbing his eyes.

A huge smile appeared on his face, "Julia! Good morning, how are you?"

I smiled, dragging my suitcase into the apartment, "I'm great, how are you?"

He nodded, mumbling 'good,' while grabbing my other suitcase and rolling it into what I assumed was going to be my room.

It was actually really nice, with a window looking out into the Heights, and a small walk-in closet. There was a bed, a dresser, and a nightstand. Of course, I would have to Julie-fy it up a little bit. Good thing I brought my favorite pictures and posters from home.

Thinking of home made my eyes tear up a little. I haven't been home or seen my parents in almost 5 months.

Clearly, Ben noticed something was wrong, "Jules, are you ok?"

I smiled slightly at the nickname he had already given me, "Yeah, I'm ok. Just thinking of home."

He walked over to me, hugging me, "We all get homesick sometimes, but that's what friends are for: to help us get through it."

"Thanks, Ben." I said, smiling. The more I looked at him, the more I realized how cute he was. No Julia. Stop. You promised you wouldn't fall for one of these guys, I repeated in my head over and over.

After I finished unpacking, which didn't take a while because I don't have much stuff, Josh and Ben went to an audition, so it was Just Dan and I in the apartment.

Just as I placed my last picture frame on my dresser, Dan knocked, walking slowly into my room, "Wanna go get some lunch? It'll give us a few hours to get to know each other!"

I replied, "of course," and we were on our way. We found ourselves in a small cafe a few blocks down the street, and sat there for hours talking. Dan was hilarious. Probably the funniest person I've ever met, and not lacking with the looks either.

As we walked back into the apartment, Dan held the door for me, "You look really pretty, by the way."

I blushed, "Thank you."

Josh and Ben came home from their audition right before dinner, and we practically demanding that we made pancakes and bacon because they were so tired from the audition. Apparently, Josh is an expert at cooking bacon, and I dabble in pancakes so we started to make dinner for the 4 of us.

This didn't last long, though, because Josh ended up placing his hand right on the extremely hot over burner, and burning his hand.

Long story short, we ended up in the hospital.

"You should be good to go Mr. Burrage," the doctor said after about an hour in the hospital room, "just try to be more careful next time."

Josh nodded.

Ben and Dan left the room, "We're gonna go pull the car around to the front."

I turned to Josh, and couldn't help but laugh, "For being your favorite food, bacon sure seems to cause you some problems."

"All good things come with a price, Julia," He said, trying to sound wise, only making me laugh more.

As we walked towards the front entrance, Josh grabbed my hand, "I'm a little weak still, do you mind?"

I shook my head, smiling. His excuse for holding my hand was bad, but I decided not to say anything about it, "Today has been a pretty weird day, hasn't it?" I said, laughing to myself.

"What do you mean?" He asked, obviously not knowing about all the weird moments I've had with each of the guys.

I sighed, "I've just never lived with guys before, so it'll probably take me some time to get used to it."

Thinking back on everything that happened today, I realized that my life was going to be crazy like this from now on. Being the only girl in a house full of three boys? No one can ever guess what crazy thing is going to happen next.
