A light knock came on Ophichus's door. "What." He called put sternly. "Sorry to bother you son but it's time for you to go." The scientist put a soft hand on his head. His mop of black hair moving with the scientist's hand.
"I don't want to see those things again." Ophichus clenched his fists. "I know I'm sorry for making you do this, but you're the only one who...who knows who they are." He chose his words carefully.
"People are scared of me father, so scared of me." He looked up with glistening eyes. "That is why, my son, we don't tell them our secret." He sat on the bed. The scientist was Ophichus's dad, but not biological, he had taken him in a year ago.
"They are gonna find out soon..." Ophichus gulped. "And when they do...if they try and hurt you...eliminate them." He said with a serious tone. "I have never killed anyone..." Ophichus's stomach turned at the thought.
"Be ready in 30 minutes, I have to go get them ready." The scientist patted his son's back gently and walked out the door. The door hissed closed and Ophichus sighed.
Rough hands grabbed his hair and shoved his face into the wall. "No! Don't hurt my son please!" His weeping mother cried. "Shut up, he disobeyed orders." The commander tightened his grip. Ophichus grunted at the pain but kept his mouth shut.
"Please he did nothing wrong!" His mother cried for him. "Remove her, get rid of his family, they are a wall in our plan, break it down." The commander hissed. Ophichus felt tears threaten to fall at the command.
"And you, you will watch." The commander twisted his head and made him focus on his family. He was breathing harder then he had ever before. The ugly commander breathed his hot breath into his silken black hair.
One tear slipped down his cheek and left a clean streak on his dirty face. "They did nothing wrong it was me." He pleaded. The commander ignored his pleading and looked at a soldier.
"Rak javan hek effier." He told him.
Ophichus stared in horror as he understood what they said. "String them up now."
The soldier took the mother first and tightly wrapped a coarse rope around her neck, she already choked and gagged. "Where would you like them?" The soldier said in their foreign language. "Outside, we don't want them stinking the place up." The commander responded.
The soldier nodded and dragged his mother with the rope across the floor. She screamed and choked on her words as she was being dragged. The soldier gave her a few kicks to make her weaker and struggle less.
Her husband sobbed after her and them he looked at his younger daughter and cried even harder. "Papa, where are they taking mama?" The five year old had bruises on her cheek from being slapped and tossed around everywhere.
The father knew it wouldn't matter what he told her anymore. "They are taking her away honey." He replied. He gasped in pain as a soldier smacked him in the face and then kneed him.
The commander grabbed Ophichus's hair and tugged his head up, to keep him watching. Ophichus sobbed and weeped. The commander gave him a good kick to the ribs. Ophichus screamed at the blistering pain and then coughed.
A splatter of crimson fell on the ground.
He could hear his mother's screams until thy abruptly halted. The soldier came back, wiping his hands off. His black mask hiding his face. "Who next?" He asked. "The man." The commander said. The father came along without struggling and then he was gone.
