Chris looks at the post and then looks at the book in his hand. It's a simple cover with Sebastian on it. Chris was crazy to read the book Sebastian wrote.
The book was so detailed and real. Chris knew he was in it, but he couldn't decide on if he wanted to admit that he was wrong or if he was right. He read the acknowledgement seven times. Sebastian's apology was written in it. But Chris couldn't accept it now.
Chris had already blocked communication between Sebastian and his friends. Chris's anxiety rose higher and higher now. He lost his job and moved in with his brother. He took out his hearing aids and let the darkness engulf him. A couple of weeks later his brother took him to the doctor. After a few tests, they diagnosed him with depression.
Chris was given medicine for it but he never took it. He knew happiness was over for him, until one day.
He was watching Ellen when all of a sudden, Sebastian came on. Chris was shocked to see him and read the subtitles as fast as he could.
Sebastian was talking about a new book he'd written. It was some type of fictional biography novella about a boy who fell for another boy due to having disabilities. It was all in one POV and he told the whole story. Chris knew the story already, but he wanted to see Sebastian's side of the story.
He went out and bought the book. Chris hates to say it, but he read it three times. He was fascinated by Sebastian's side of the story.
The only part that stood out to Chris though was the acknowledgement.
"I never meant to hurt you (him) I just didn't know how to tell you. Was I supposed to tell you that I was in fact having sex with a girl even though I was gay? I didn't know. I was scared. Scared of how you'd feel about that. If you'd be angry or you'd be sad or even both. I love you, but I guess it was over.
It's like that saying, the one that he enjoyed. 'If you love something set it free, if it doesn't come back...it wasn't meant to be'".
Chris didn't know how to respond to this. He tried reaching out to Sebastian, but he had changed his number. Chris soon started watching every interview and turned on post notifications on Instagram. He hates to admit it, but he never unfollowed him. Today's post tore him.
Chris feels a small confidence boost and goes over to his desk. He sits down and grabs a piece of paper.
"He won't see this, but, I can try."
He picks up a pen. The words become bees and they swarm around. Buzzing and stinging his brain. Then, the pen starts moving.
Dear Sebastian...
