Chapter 6

Esther

"So?" a sick Rose questions as I sit down on the couch next to her. I give her a big grin. "I start tomorrow afternoon" I say. I got the job. Thank the lord. "So do the other employees seem nice?" Rose asks. "Yeah they're all lovely" I reply. "That's good to hear" she says smiling. I can't wait to start. This is my first time working in a cafe. I'm so excited and the bonus is I get paid. "Well I'm gonna go upstairs and have an early night" I tell Rose. "Is Lucas here to look after you?" I ask her. She smiles and nods "He's just out getting me some food, he should be home soon" she replies. "Will you be okay until he comes back?" I worry. "I'll be fine" she says, "now go on and get upstairs to get some sleep" she demands cheekily. "Aye aye captain" I salute her. She laughs at my stupidity. I laugh and say "Goodnight Rose". 

As I'm about to go upstairs I thought I would catch Ashton now and see if he wants to walk to class together again tomorrow. I walk to his door that is beside the staircase and knock a couple of times awaiting an answer. A few moments later the door opens to reveal a half naked Ashton. I couldn't help but look at his bare chest. In my defence I am way shorter than he is so I'm always faced with his chest. After a few seconds of admiring his rather buff looking torso I look up at him. He's smirking. Dammit he saw me staring. I go red with embarrassment. Mentally hitting my forehead. "Ah I Ah wanted to see if you wanted to walk to class together tomorrow?" I finally let the words stumble out of my mouth. "Yeah sure" he smiles. I smile back. Relieved he didn't reject my offer. That would have been embarrassing. "Cool I'll see you in the morning" I say "goodnight". "Goodnight Esther" he replies leaning on the door frame as I make my way upstairs.

Once I'm upstair I shut my door and changed it my pyjamas then make my way over to my cosy double bed. I lay under the covers and think about Ashton. I smile to myself thinking about his naked torso in front of me. Then I cringe at how embarrassing it was to be caught staring. I really like Ashton. To bad we can't be more then just friends...

I hear someone knock at my door a couple times. I'm currently laying in bed with just a pair of tracksuit pants on. It's probably Lucas I thought to myself. I get up and open my door. I'm surprised to see that its Esther on the other side. I look down at her to see she's still wearing the same outfit she wore to her job interview. I wonder if she got it? I thought to myself. But I'm too distracted by how good she looks to even ask. Then I realise she's staring at me. Staring at my half naked body. I smirk at her. She looks up and then her cheeks go red. She knows I caught her. 

"Ah I Ah wanted to see if you wanted to walk to class together tomorrow?" she asks me stumbling over her words a little. "Yeah sure" I smile at her. She smiles back. She has a cute smile. "Cool I'll see you in the morning" she says "goodnight". "Goodnight Esther" I reply to her leaning on the doorway as I watch her walk up the stairs. I smile and then  walk back in my room and shut the door behind me. I get into bed and think about her and they way she was checking out my bare chest. I smile. I can't wait until tomorrow it means I get to spend more time with her. 

*** 8:00am the next morning ***

I'm woken up by my alarm. Ugh I groan turning it off. I stretch and run my hands down my face. I get out of bed and have a quick shower then put on some black jeans and a white top. I fix my messy hair and walk out into the kitchen. Uni Starts at 9am today. I sit at the table and eat some cereal. I see Lucas and Rose walk into the kitchen. Rose is looking a little better now. They smile at me and say "hey". "Hey" I reply back "have you guys seen Esther this morning? we're supposed to be walking to class together". Rose smirks at me. "Nah man we haven't seen her" Lucas replies "maybe check her room". I nod and finish my cereal.

Once I finish my breakfast I put the bowl in the sink and make my way upstairs. I knock on Esther's door. I wait awhile. No reply. I knock again and wait. Still no reply. "Esther it's Ashton" I say "I'm coming in" I warn her in case she's not dressed or something. Not that I would mind but she deserves her privacy and I don't want to embarrass her. I walk in to see her asleep in her bed. She looks so peaceful. So cute. I walk over to her. I look around her room. I see a pillow on the chair by her window. I smile. I grab the pillow and throw it at her "wake up sleepy head" I laugh. She wakes up "what the hell Ashton!" she groans throwing the pillow at me. I laugh. She's cute with she's grumpy. "Well someone's not a morning person" I tease. She glares at me. I laugh. "Cmon you better hurry up or we'll be late" I say. She throws the blankets back and stretches. Her shirt comes up as she stretches showing some of her stomach. I couldn't help but stare at the little amount of smooth skin that is revealed. Then I look away as I see her getting up so she doesn't catch me.

"I'll give you some privacy" I say to her "I'll be waiting down stairs". She smiles and walks me out shutting the door. I walk down the stairs and sit on the kitchen bench as I wait. About ten minutes later I see Esther coming down the stairs. She's wearing a pair of blue high waisted shorts and a lace crop top. She's looking good, as usual. She smiles. "Are you ready to go?" she asks. "Don't you want breakfast first?" I ask her. "Nah it's okay we'll be late otherwise" she replies. "You should eat something" I tell her "your skinny enough as it is". She smiles and grabs on apple from the bowl on the kitchen table. "Cmon" she's say "I'll eat along the way". And with that we're both walking out the door.
