Chapter 13

Esther

After we all show our ID to the security guard at the door we walk into the club, following the loud music that is playing. "Shall we find a place to sit and then order some drinks?" Rose asks. We all agree and start heading to an empty table away from the loud music and all the sweaty dancing bodies that are currently surrounding us.

Once we sit down the boys decide that they'll go order the drinks, so Rose and I are left alone. I sit there and look around at all the different people. "See any hotties?" Rose asks nudging my shoulder. "Maybe" I joke. "We gotta find you a man!" she says "I'm not really looking to find anyone Rose" I say to her. "Aww cmon Esther if you won't be with Ashton at least hook up with someone else". I shake my head "If I'm going to find a guy I'll do it without your help thanks" I joke. She punches my arm "hey I'm not that bad at picking out guys for you" she says. "Do we need to talk about the last guy you set me up with?" I cock my eyebrow at her. "Okay okay you win" she says in surrender.

After a few minutes the boys come back with our drinks. Ashton hands me a glass of some concoction of his choice. I told him to surprise me. "So what did you get?" I ask him looking in my glass. "Just an apple cider" he replies. I smile and we both take a sip of our drinks. "Let's go dance" I hear Rose saying to Lucas as she grabs his hand and they run off to the group of people dancing near where the DJ is playing the music. I laugh as I watch an excited Rose go. "What did Lucas got her to drink?" I look at Ashton. "Something strong I'm guessing" he replies. We both laugh as we watch them dancing together. "They're terrible dancers" I say. "Agreed" Ashton says.

A few hours later

After a few drinks Ashton and I are still sitting at the table talking. "Do you want another one?" I ask him. "Nah I'm good for tonight" he says "someone has to look after the three of you". "Well aren't you Mr responsible" I say ruffling his hair. clearly a little tipsy. I start walking to the bar "only one more Esther" I hear Ashton say. I turn around and salute him "yes sir" I giggle. I see a slight smile form on his lips as I turn around and head for the bar.

Once I make it to the bar I order myself a midori. While I'm waiting for my drink I feel someone come up next to me. "Hey I'm Caleb" he says holding his hand out "I'm Esther" I smile shaking his hand. "So what brings you here" Caleb asks. "I'm just here with some friends" I reply "and yourself?". "Just her with a mate" he says "he broke up with his girlfriend so he came her to hookup, dragging me along with him" he says. "Well there's plenty to choose from" I muse. He laughs. 

"Can I buy you another drink?" Caleb asks after I finish my midori. "Thanks but I should start heading back to my friends" I reply. Caleb hands me a piece of paper with his number on it. "It'd be nice to get to know you" he says "message me if you wanna catch up sometime". I smile and start walking back to the table. Ashton's still sitting there when I come back. "What took you so long?" he asks. "I was just talking to some guy at the bar" I reply sitting next to Ashton "he gave me his number". I see Ashton's jaw clench. "What?" I question. "Nothing" he replies. I frown "Okay". That was weird. Maybe I'm still a little tipsy. "Here drink this" Ashton says handing me a bottle of water. "Thanks" I say taking a sip. "So are you going to message this guy?" Ashton asks. "I don't know yet" I reply. He nods. Why does he even care anyway?

After another hour we finally find a drunk Rose and Lucas. "Cmon guys time to go home" Ashton says as we help them walk back to the apartment. Once we're back home we but them to bed. Ashton and I go into the kitchen once the drunken lovers are asleep. I sit at the kitchen bench holding my head. "You okay?" Ashton asks. "Just not feeling to well" I reply. "What's wrong?" he asks concerned. Just as I'm about to reply I end up running to the toilet and vomiting my guts up. 

I feel Ashton come up behind me and hold my hair back as I continue to be sick. Once I stop I flush the toilet and turn around and look at Ashton. He pulls me closer to his chest. My cheeks flush with embarrassment  of him just seeing me vomit. I look at him, his face inches away from mine. "You should have told me earlier you weren't feeling well" he says. "I only just started feeling like" I reply. He nods "cmon let's get you into bed" he says leading me upstairs to my bedroom. "I'll leave you to get changed" he walks out shutting the door. I take off my heals and dress and put on a baggy top and some comfy pants. Just as I get into bed I hear a knock at my door. 

The door opens a little "are you dressed" Ashton asks. "Yeah" I reply. I see Ashton walk in with a glass of water, some panadol and a bucket. He places the bucket at the side of my bed. "Just in case your sick again" he says. I screw my face up. "Sorry you had to see that" I say. He smiles sitting on the side of my bed "It's fine Esther" he says handing me the glass and two panadol tablets. I take the tablets and drink the glass of water. I give the glass back to Ashton. "Thank you" I say. He smiles and stands up "have a good sleep Esther". As Ashton starts walking away a grab his hand. "Wait" I say "will you stay with me?".

He nods and sits the glass on the bedside table. I move over and fold the blankets back making room. I watch as Ashton sits on the edge of the bed and starts unbuttoning his shirt. He takes it off and folds it up placing it on the floor. I admire his muscular back as he starts taking off his shoes. Left in just his jeans Ashton gets into bed pulling the blankets over us. I look at him. "Come here" he says gently pulling me towards his chest and wrapping his arms around me. I lay in his arms with my head rested against his chest. "Thank you" I say "for staying with me". "It's okay" he replies. "You really are a great friend" I say. "Get some sleep now Esther" he says and I close my eyes and fall asleep in Ashton's arms.
