We finally made it back home and I was exhausted and hungry. Luckily, Margaret had prepared a lovely meal for us, which we gladly accepted.
"Jason, can you please explain to me who you are?" I asked. We had just entered our room after eating dinner.
"Not tonight Ariel." Was his curt reply.
"Jason I have a right to know. I've declared my love for you, don't you trust me?" I asked him with sadness laced in my voice.
"It's not about trust, love. It's about how you can handle the real me. My own parents left after finding out what I was, what I am." He mumbled.
"What are you?" I tried.
"A monster." He answered with hate and disgust dripping off of his words like they had been soaking in it.
"You're not a monster, Jason. And I'll love you no matter what." I assured him. Jason made no move to tell me anything. I had the right to know why he had such severe self loathing.
"Please, tell me Jason." I pleaded.
Jason sighed before standing up and walking out the door. I quickly followed him as he walked outside. I thought he would've stopped there, but he didn't. He kept walking. Jason went straight into the woods, and I kept following him.
Finally, Jason turned around to face me.
"This is your last chance. If you don't want to see this, turn back now." He warned. I stayed rooted in my spot.
He wasn't getting rid of me that easily.
Jason sighed before stripping out of his clothes. I only stared into his eyes, and didn't dare to look down. Jason saw this and chuckled. I watched as his face began to change. His nose changed into a snout.
My face turned into one of pure terror once I saw that Jason was now a very large, midnight black, wolf.
I forgot how to breathe for a second. Jason was a werewolf. A werewolf.
My Jason was a werewolf.
A werewolf.
The stuff in stories told to you as children.
How?
Jason started walking towards me, and I backed up. Wrong move. He began to whimper as if he were in pain. Slowly, I walked towards him with my hand outstretched. I stroked the fur on his head as he purred and nuzzled into my hand.
"Can you turn back please?" I asked. He backed up, and I saw him turn back into a very naked Jason. I just kept my eyes on his as he got dressed.
"Ariel. . ." He started, but I cut him off.
"So that's why I can't go out on a full moon." I mused.
"There's a bit more to it than that." He said tentatively.
Jason had suggested that we head back inside to talk about it. I agreed and followed him back to our room.
He sat next to me on the bed as I asked him question and he explained.
"Every wolf has one person that they're meant to be with for the rest of their life, that person is called their mate. You're my mate, and that's why you and I have a strong connection." He said slowly, so I would understand.
"Oh. Why exactly did you now want me going out on a full moon?" I asked, still shocked with everything that was happening.
"Look, all that my wolf wants to do is mate with you, and on a full moon my wolf is hard to control. So I didn't want him to force you into anything." He had a slight blush.
"Does he control your mood sometimes?" I asked.
"Yes, he doesn't tolerate disrespect well. Don't get me wrong, we would never lay a hand on you, but sometimes he just gets angry which makes me angry. And he has been dying to mark you. A mark is where I would bite your neck, which would show others that you're mine, and it would also be pleasurable for you." He pointed out.
I gulped.
At least I knew the truth now.
"Please say something." He begged.
"What do you want me to say?" I asked, breathless.
"Say that you won't leave me." He whispered. That part got my attention.
"I would never leave you, I love you Jason." I said with all the emotion I could muster.
I stared at his lips, I wanted him to kiss me. Slowly we both leaned closer, and our lips touched. Sparks erupted and I couldn't help the moan that escaped when his tongue slipped inside my mouth.
"Make love to me." I told him as we pulled away.
His pupils dilated as he bit his lip.
"You have no idea how much I want to, but I don't think you're ready." He sighed.
"I am. I'm ready for you to make me yours, Jason. I love you and you love me, why shouldn't we love one another physically?" I asked rhetorically.
"We will, just not tonight." He said with sorrow. I smiled before kissing him once more.
"It's alright. I know that we'll make love soon. And I know that it'll be the best day of my life." I told him truthfully.
Jason gave me his famous smile before declaring that he was going to go bathe.
I took this time to think. There was so much going on in my life right now.
How was I going to tell my family? Do they know about him?
I wasn't sure what to think. All I knew was that I loved Jason, and nothing could change that. I would ask Jason more in the morning, for now I wanted to rest.
The day's events had been quite draining.
If only I had seen the man who had been right outside our door.
