Emma's P.O.V.

As I woke up the day after I heard Gus' gritty voice announce my name I literally sprung out of my bed, as if I was a five foot human jack in the box. It was a Saturday and I was leaving early on Tuesday for some sightseeing, even if the concert wasn't till Tuesday. I trodden into the kitchen in just my pyjama shorts and bra, being immediately greated with the smell of a freshly baked carrot cake and a note with my mom's fastly scrawled penmanship covering it. "Dearest Emmy, Dad and I are going out to the store and for a bit of brunch. We'll be back around one o'clock. There's money lying on the counter if you want to a bit of shopping for the concert. I'm so happy for you that you won the contest! I made you your favorite food; carrot cake. Just because I know that's your favorite food (or at least carrots are) and I wanted to treat you! Have a fabulous day, honey! Love, Mum and Dad", it read cheerily. I got out a knife and plate (covered in a carrot print, of course) and cut myself a large piece of cake. I turned on the radio and heard the announcer declaring the number one called in song of the morning; "One Thing". As I sang along and shoved giant forkfuls of my mum's heavenly homemade cake I got a text from my best guy friend, Blake. "Morning Beautiful ;) Blake xox", it read. "Oh god", I sighed frustratedly. That boy, that boy, that boy. Blake and I had been best friends since we were three. Play dates everyday went to partners for every project and a date for every lonely dance. He had loved me since we were thirteen. Well, I think he always sort of loved me, he just told me when we were thirteen. Try as I may I never felt the same way he did for me. I just couldn't think of him like that. He was my brother, confidant, best friend, and personal Oprah; he gave the best advice. "Hey Blake :)", I responded back friendily. I put my plate and fork into the dishwasher and practically sprinted over to my bedroom, I was in need of some new clothes in a BAD way! I got dressed in a pair of cherry colored skinny jeans, oversize tangerine and navy stripes sweater, and leopard oxfords. I ran to my beaudior and took a look in my mirror. "Oh holy mother of spoons my hair is a hot mess", I moaned exasperatedly. My bouncy curls were flared out in what appeared to be a lion's mane, frizz covering every square inch of the curls on my head. I went to my miniature beauty supply store under my beaudior, pulling out my fine tooth comb, anti-static spray, anti-frizz serum, spray bottle, and some mousse. I had lived with my hair for eighteen years so in a matter of minutes my locks were tamed and back to there usual springy, chocolateness. I took out my favorite black glitter liquid liner and a few mascaras. I was literally obsessed with my eye makeup, I have over a hundred mascaras and eyeliners combined. I lined my eyes heavily and spread the thick black goop onto my lashes. I ran to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and grabbed my purse, phone, and coat. I got in my small, red Sebring Chrysler and drove off to the local shopping center.

As I climbed out of the driver's seat and out onto the cracked concrete of the parking lot I looked at my phone.

"One New Message From: Blake Newcastle", it said as I unlocked my phone screen. "Hey babe, what's hanging? :)", it read. You know the people you text who respond with one word responses and bland questions? Well Blake certainly wasn't one of those people! He always used some kind of face and used nicknames constantly. "Just shopping for some new items of fashion :D", I texted back. I strolled into the mall, first hitting Top Shop and purchasing a new pair of teal skinny jeans, electric blue strappy platforms, and a white pullover sweatshirt with a graphic printed pair of red lips sitting on top of a group of sky scrapers. I went to Asos and purchased a sun yellow lace bow play suit, black jumper with a white panda face on it, and black and white knit shorts with side buttons. I went around to a few more stores, buying a pair of shoes here and a dress there. Blake texted me throughout my shopping. He could also give fashion advice like Tim Gunn!! As I strode through the food court I stopped at Nando's to order some chicken and garlic bread I saw a familiar head of caramel colored hair standing off to the side of the counter. As I saw the man turn around I noticed a pair of deep hazel eyes turn around to meet my teal eyes. Well, blue. No, gray. Wait, green. My eyes changed colors depending on my mood. Today they were a light blueish teal, meaning I was excited. "BLAKE", I crooned, running over to my six foot five, giant best friend. "Hey, love.", he said cheekily. We went to grab our food and sit down at one of the red round-top tables. As we chatted about everything from One Direction to the latest football match I realized just how much I'd miss him. I knew it was only for a few days but he really was my best friend. I had Jade and Brianna and Ailene and all my other friends but they didn't get me like Blake did. As I drove home that evening I felt a bit melancholy about it all. As excited as I was to meet my idols and centers of my universe and making some possible new friends in the other girls I couldn't get my worries out of my mind. What if they weren't what I thought they'd be? What if they didn't like me? What if the other girls were prettier and skinnier and better than I was? What if they hated me? What if I hated them? As these worries ran through my mind I couldn't help but suddenly feel naseuous. I didn't know how this whole thing would go, all I knew is that it would be certainly be interesting.
