~Nikki~

I turned around, staring into his crystal blue irises. His blonde hair was getting ruffled by the wind. He cupped my cheek with one hand and said softly, “Nikki, I love you more than food.” I let out a giggle. He started leaning down and I closed me eyes when suddenly, someone started screaming my name.

“Nikki!”

Why was he screaming my name? I was right there with him. How odd.

I felt someone shaking me. I opened my eyes and wondered how his blue eyes had turned brown suddenly. Then I heard the snickering around me. That’s when I realized that those eyes belonged to Ms. Fitz, not the boy I was utterly in love with. That’s when I also realized I was sitting in my Maths classroom and not in Nandos on a romantic dinner date.

“NIKKI!”

“God, stop screaming! I’m up. Chill out, will ya?”

“Chill out? How about you tell me what the answer of the sum is?” She gave me a smug look, knowing that I wasn’t paying attention. She had a thing against me, this woman.

“Which sum?”

“So you weren’t paying attention?”

“No, I was paying attention with my eyes shut. I like to rest them sometimes and let my other senses take over. That way they all are sharp, you know.”

“Don’t try to be cheeky, young lady. What’s the answer of the problem on the board?”

I looked at the board. It was a quadratic equation, one of my favourite topics in Math. I did the sum mentally and told her the answer.

“X is either equal to 10 or -15 but since we’re finding the length of the field, the answer can’t be -15 so it’s 10.”

“How did you do it so fast?” She asked me, baffled out of her wits. Just then, the bell rang and I shrugged, collecting my books.

“Can I leave now?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

“Yes,” she muttered.

I walked out of the classroom, catching up with my best friend, Becky. She was standing next to her locker kissing the picture of Niall Horan, from One Direction.

“Hey! He’s mine!” I snatched the picture away, jokingly.

“No way! He loves me more, don’t you Nialler?” She asked the picture, pouting. “So... Excited for tonight?”

“Excited is a bit of an understatement, don’t you think Becks?”

"Gus, do you know right now, thousands of girls around England are hanging on our every word?"

"Why is that do you think?" Dave asked. "Do you think maybe it's got something to do with the announcement we have?"

“Shut up and get to the point Dave!” I screamed, sitting up on my bed, phone clutched tightly in my hand. I knew that the chances of getting selected were very low but there was no harm in trying.

"It could quite be that." the other man replied.

"Right, let's get down to it then." Gus told the radio, "We have our four winners here. All of their entries were fantastic. We had pictures of why they love One Direction and essays. All of the entries really blew us away but these three girls really...stunned us. So, as everyone knows. We'll be ringing them, so I hope everyone is near their phones. Hang up on you Grandma, make sure your battery is charged because we could be ringing you! Okay, so let's dial the first number."

“So, get out, get out, get outta my head, and fall into my arms instead! I don’t, I don’t, don’t know what it is but I need that one thing and you’ve got that one thing!”

Wasn’t One Thing my ringtone? Huh? I looked down at my phone and jumped. It was ringing. An unknown number.

"Hello?" I answered the call, shaking.

"Hello, Nikki? This is Gus and Dave from radi-"

“You’re kidding...” I whispered.

“No, no we’re not actually. You’ve won the competition.”

“OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! ONE DI... NIALL HOR- HARRY STY- HOLY SHIT!” I was in hysterics.

“Yes, Nikki,” Dave chuckled, amused.

"Oh my GOD! Is this for real?" I asked again. I couldn’t believe it!

"Congratulations, Nikki! You're going to be going to a One Direction concert AND you will be meeting them face to face,” Gus laughed.

“Thank you so much! I don’t know how I can thank you guys! This... I don’t even know what to say...”

“Well, you should be thinking about what you’ll be saying to the lads seeing as you’re going to be meeting them now,” Dave said and the line got cut.

I couldn’t control it any longer. I burst into tears. Of joy, of course. My mom and dad burst into the room at that moment.

“Nikki! You just cursed on the radio! Are you out of your mind?” My mom exclaimed with an incredulous expression on her face. But I didn’t care. I was going to meet One Direction. That was all I had ever wanted in my life. Well, except for a decent boyfriend, going to a good college and becoming an astrophysicist, working for NASA.

“Let her be, will you! She just got to know she’s going to meet her idols. What if you could meet The Beatles. What would you say then huh?” Dad told my mom. “Congratulations sweetie, you deserved it! I’m so happy for you!”

My phone started ringing and I looked down to see it was Becky. This was the 5th time she had called after the announcement and I had already got 16 new messages on my phone, probably from fangirls in my school. But all I did was, play More Than This on my iPod and slip into oblivion where I could continue my date with my ‘one and only’, Niall Horan.
