Chapter 19

Hello guys! I'm back again! I'm sorry for the 2 week long wait but man, holidays are much more stressful than I thought. This year was a lot busier than last year that's for sure. I hope you all had a great holiday season wherever you are. But it's back to school for me which... really doesn't change anything really. Anyway, if you haven't noticed, I changed the cover! Yay! The art is all original so I don't need to worry about being an art thief anymore, yay! Well anyway, on to the chapter!

Piercing, sky blue eyes open with a shock.
It has been a week since Yun had mended up Lanying's wounds.  In that time the group managed to fix up a few of the houses in the small village to live in and for Yun to use one as his infirmary.  They also found a small village not too far away from their abandoned one where Yun stocked up on supplies.  However, through this entire time, Zeno remained by Lanying's bedside.  He held the girl's cold, almost dead hand with his eyes closed; as if he was sending a silent prayer to the Gods.  For the most part, the group left him alone and only bothered him when it was time to eat or were telling him to go to sleep.  Despite the fact that all of them know that Zeno does not require these mortal needs to survive, the group was more worried about Zeno's mental state.
    It wasn't until now -- with Yun changing the bandages on Lanying's hands and Zeno and Yona sitting next to the futon -- did the pale girl show any signs of awakening. Her eyes shoot open wide with no warning; likewise she sits up with a start -- almost hitting Yun in the face. Lanying's bright blue eyes are glossed over with a haziness that makes her appear dead. With those eyes she scans over the room; each time pausing to look over the three unfamiliar faces.
    "Who are you?" She asks in a monotone
    Zeno's expression droops for a fraction of a second, but that sadness is quickly replaced with his usual cheer. "Zeno's name is Zeno! The boy's name is Yun and the Miss's name is Yona. It's nice to meet you Miss."
    Yona smiles a bit. "It's very nice to meet you Lanying."
    Lanying tilts her head to the side slightly. "How do you know my name?"
    Yona's smile falters. "Eh.... I'm sorry... ummm... We met while traveling one time... Do you not remember?" Yona lies.
    Lanying shakes her head; her now brushed hair is pulled back in a loose ponytail. Both Yona and Yun figured that she would get better faster if she was more comfortable, so Yun sewed new, clean clothes for her and Yona cleaned her up. "No, I do not remember anything. I am merely a vessel and memories such as those serve no purpose to me." She blankly states.
    "A vessel?" Yun questions despite knowing very well what she means. Yun -- being the scholar he is -- figured that if he played dumb then he could get more answers to all this demon business. Huan has been experiencing chronic migraines and chest pain ever since they arrived. Zeno told him that it probably had something to do with the Yin Demon Queen residing within her, but since he only knows things about the Yang Warrior -- and even that knowledge is limited -- he does not know for sure.
    Lanying nods. "Yes, there is a demon residing inside my body. Her majesty is the only reason why I am alive now. My body belongs to her and only her. Anything unnecessary is discarded." She tilts her upwards. "I sense Yin." In one swift, robotic motion she rises from the futon and walks out the door.
    "Lanying! Wait!" Yona exclaims as she rushes after the swiftly walking girl.
    The trio finds the pale girl standing in the small room the group was using as the Infirmary's kitchen with a knife in her hand. She glances over to the three and quickly brings her arm that is holding the knife up. With the tip of the knife almost at Zeno's nose so monotonously says, "Stab me."
    Zeno goes into a panic. "No! What?!" He snatches the knife away from her.
    Lanying merely stares for a few moments before shrugging and walking away and down a different hallway to where Huan was resting. She enters the room without a pause and strides over to Huan's side where she kneels down to take one of the sleeping girl's hands in her own.
    "Wait!-" Yun cuts himself off when he sees the scarily wicked grin plastered on the once emotionless Lanying's face.
    Lanying takes the younger girl's hand in her own pale ones and presses the back to her cheek. "We're finally reunited Yin." The tone in her voice has changed as well. What once was a cold monotone is now a velvety poison. Lanying opens her eyes to reveal not the sky blue ones of before but pure white ones with red pupils. "It's been so long, my love." Delicate kisses are placed on each of Huan's knuckles. "It won't be long love, just one more.... Then we can truly be reunited..... This one is a beautiful one indeed.... You have excellent taste as always my love. Please just wait a little longer...." Another kiss is placed on the back of her hand. "I know it's hard, but it will be worth it, I promise...." A hiss of pain escapes Lanying's lips, followed by a growl of frustration and anger. "This stupid girl is trying to kick me out again." However, the expression of heated lust clouds Lanying's face once more, and in that poisonous voice she says one last thing. "But don't worry, I'll come for you soon my love" And with that, Lanying falls unconscious again; dropping Huan's hand in the process.
    "Huan!"
    "Lanying!" The trio come out of their shocked states to rush to the sides of the two unconscious girls.
    "Zeno, what was that?!" Yun exclaims in a worried tone.
    "Zeno doesn't know, but Zeno thinks we need to get them to the Priest.... Now."
