The mechanic doorway slowly creaked open, letting warm sunlight fill the main corridor. As it opened fully, Skya could see rolling hills, and fields of grass, and the sky was a perfect shade of blue, with puffy clouds spotted around it.
This was what she was kept away from for 15 years. This vast, open space where she didn't have to put on an act of being evil just for master Valcon's sake.
The spies started to file out of the C.A.F.S., so she turned around and waved goodbye to everyone that was watching them go. Nobody waved back. It wasn't surprising, since they were all forced to be evil!
She didn't care. She could leave all that stuff behind her, because right now, she was going to go on an amazing trip to the south!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They'd been walking for the whole day, talking about evil plans that they had, and all sorts of stuff that made Skya want to shut them all up and do something more enjoyable. She sometimes started to fly ahead a bit, but the group leader, who appeared to be a dog-man, told her to save her energy and walk. At least Conas was there to keep her company. He didn't like all the talk about scheming just as well as she didn't like it. They got to know each other a great deal more, and she finally started to feel comfortable around him.
The terrain was starting to turn into a different shape, which meant that they had to be close to the south, whatever "The South" was. The trees were getting much taller, and the fields turned to heavy brush. It was sunset already, and Skya was starting to feel tired.
"Should we stop and rest for the night?" the leader of the group asked loudly to everyone, "We're almost there, but I can't bear another moment of walking."
Everyone nodded approvingly, and they all sat down, and unrolled their sleeping bags to rest. Skya did too, and she sat down next to Conas.
"This place is much different than the fields that we walked through," she said to Conas. He nodded, and looked around the forest. It didn't look like a forest. It looked more like a...jungle.
Now that she thought about it, it was a jungle. She should have known! The giant, thick trees, the huge bushes and the humid air. She'd learned about this place in her studies that she had to do.
But wait. She was a macaw, so she came from the rain forest! She had a chance at finding her home!
Conas was starting to doze off, so she nudged him to wake him up.
"Conas, Conas! Wake up! This is the rain forest, so I could finally find my home, my parents. You have to wake up!" she whispered loudly in his ear. He sat up, and looked at her in confusion.
"We have to sneak out of here, and find them!" Skya enticed him.
"What if master Valcon finds out?" he asked worriedly.
"Don't worry about him. And, isn't your home in the rain forest too?" she pried.
"I guess," Conas scratched the back of his neck in thought, then he sighed, "OK, fine. We'll sneak out, but please just after we get some sleep. Besides, then it'll be dark when we sneak away."
Skya agreed, and they both rolled up their sleeping bags up, and slowly drifted to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you sure that they're all asleep?" Conas whispered to Skya.
"They won't be awake for long, if you keep talking."
They stalked through the bushes in their animal forms, away from all of the sleeping spies. Skya didn't dare start flying, because the sound of her wing beats would wake everyone up. Instead, they both slowly tip toed on their talons and their gecko fingers, deeper into the jungle, listening to the sounds of fellow birds squawk, and monkeys howl. They were very vulnerable as animals, but a lot more stealthy.
Once they got far enough away, they changed into their normal forms, and began to talk quietly.
"I think we're in the center of the rain forest now," Skya looked around. The trees were at their full height, and there were creatures and rivers surrounding them. It was still the middle of the night, so the full moon's light casted shadows through the leaf canopy. She noticed that it was the same colour as her eyes. Silver.
"My parents should be around here somewhere," she inquired, "They have to be."
Just then, a couple blue figures shot through the bushes, and headed straight for them.
They were macaws...
