She had carefully placed each photo and note of him in a certain spot, just to be organized. The large pin board that was hidden under her bed, contained information about Conas that nobody could have imagined being there. Some of his baby pictures that she'd stolen from his room, pictures of important moments were also stationed in a certain spot, and there was one large photo placed in the middle that was of him in his human form, smiling at the camera. In his human form, he had a very long, strong lizard tail, gecko hands, where he could make his fingertips very sticky at will, and a spikey back spine that stretched across his body, starting from the bottom of his neck, going down his spine, and along his tail. In his lizard form, well he could turn into any kind of lizard he wanted to, but his favourite form, was a bearded dragon.
Skya had to admit, it was kind of creepy to stalk someone just because you had a giant crush on that person. It was actually one of her hobbies, to scrapbook. She had quite a knack for it, but she used it for stalking Conas, rather than using it for what you would normally use it for. But, she'd been locked inside this damp underground lair for her whole life as far as she knew, so this was the only hobby that she was able to do down here. She'd never even gotten to sniff the fresh air that was wafting around in the outside. Skya was a very lonely 15 year old.
She just noticed that there were footsteps coming her way. In the C.A.F.S., the "subjects" weren't aloud doors for their bedrooms, so if anyone just looked into her room, they would see her secret, and probably tell everyone. She needed to hide her secret obsession from anyone that would want to give it away to anyone.
The footsteps were getting louder. She quickly shoved her pin board under her bed again, and flopped down onto her desk. She tried to look as if she weren't up to anything in particular.
The footsteps entered her room. They were light footsteps, and they moved very slowly. Suddenly, they stopped. Skya turned around. It was Conas, checking up on her to see if she was all right. Skya started to blush. Why was he checking up on her this early?
"Hey," he said, comfortably, "How're you doing?" He leaned on the side of the doorway, seeming calm, and totally not rushed at all.
"Uh, just checking on my, uh, fish! Yah, fish," she lied, pointing to the fish, that she named bubbles.
Conas didn't look convinced that she was actually checking out her fish, but he didn't seem to care much. "Well, OK. I just wanted to tell you, that I'm excited to go on this trip with you," he finally got out. Then, he fled out of the room, leaving Skya all to herself to think about what he had just told her.
Skya was startled and yet, happy to hear that he was almost as excited as she was to be going on this amazing journey with her.
Despite her enthusiasm, she decided to start packing, (again.) She put in all the essentials, and even a few things that might keep her entertained on the trip. It wasn't a family road trip, it was a secret mission that meant a long journey south, towards the rainforest. But that didn't mean that it had to be all "doom and gloom," right? It could still be fun, especially with Conas coming with.
Then, all of a sudden, a deep loud voice boomed on the intercom that lined the ceilings of the forgotten hallways, "Everybody that is going on mission H.4, please meet at the secret entrance for departing."
Skya could hardly wait. She zipped up her solid blue pack with all her stuff in it, and raced down the hallway, towards the main entrance. This was the first real mission of her life, and she was finally going to be free.
