"We need a plan", he says sitting down.
I go to sit next to him but his hands are suddenly on my hips, guiding me onto his lap. This feels really, truly, horribly wrong. I actually want to scream.
"Uh...yeah", I manage to say as my heart squeezes tighter, "Okay."
A chuckle rumbles in his chest, "So you were kidnapped but escaped do you remember where that was? That would be a good starting point to do recon. Has intel sent you anything lately? Any sightings?"
A shiver of dread crawls down my back; I know exactly what they'd have been sighting if they were still watching the Daemons. Crap.
"They were staying at this manor", I start with the easy stuff, "Out in the country sort of area. There's about seven of them though, half Daemons are protecting the Prince."
"Half Daemons?" Jakob and Meli ask together. She rolls over to look at me, "How do you know they are half Daemons?"
"They told me. Half Daemon, half human." I keep the whole 'Elite' thing to myself. Just for now.
"And that's all you know, right?" Meli sighs, "Because I have to do all the real work." Once again she sits up, "So, I've gone and reconed the place CeCe was taken to. It's deserted and no trail to follow there. Intel has been working hard to try and relocate them but it's a big city. Our best guess is they've moved into the area of highest population density, to be harder to find." Meli pulls out a giant map with a big red circle and plenty of numbers drawn all over it. "I've worked out that could be anywhere around here. There are plenty of high-rise apartment blocks. So we've narrowed the search to this area."
I openly gape at her as Jakob leans over and takes the map, shaking it out in front of us and studying it more thoroughly.

"Maybe I am useless", I confess, "When did you have the time to do all this?"
"While you were out with your new friends. Tommy's actually a city planner, if you were wondering."
I continue gaping at her; all along she was still on the mission and I was the only one really going off the rails. Her smug look shows that she knows this.
