PART TWO
"Hey", I answer the call, "What's up?"
"Hey CeCe", she sounds relieved, "Sorry about the late call. I just had a weird feeling and wanted to check in."
"Oh", I say with a guilty laugh that causes Hanbin to cast a questioning glance my way. "I was worried you were in trouble."
"No. I'm fine. It was really weird, I just suddenly felt like something wasn't right. Is it alright if I come over? We could spend the long weekend having a big girls' night in."
"That sounds fun", I glance at Hanbin again and he continues to watch me over the top of his cup as he takes a sip of tea. Whether on purpose or by accident, his eye twitches slightly and I feel like my stomach's hit the floor and just kept falling. "But I actually have plans, so maybe we can do it some other time."
"Oh. Okay", Meli's voice gets a little stiff, "Well, I'll just come over tonight then."
"No, thank you", I say carefully, "Seriously. I'm fine."
"You don't want me to come over? What's going on CeCe?"
"Maybe I'm enjoying my night at home on my own? Maybe I just want to get back to bed? It's really nice of you to check up on me and I seriously appreciate it", I try to sound appreciative yet stern while also watching Hanbin edge towards me. Guess my times up. "I'll let you know when I'm free and we'll catch up."
"Fine", Meli says but doesn't sound fine. She sounds like she's already on her way over.
Hanbin's arm snakes around my waist and he whispers, "If she doesn't hang up I'm gonna do it."
'No' I mouth with an angry frown before saying to Meli, "I'll see you sometime. Okay?"
She sighs heavily, "Yeah. Okay. Just stay safe."
"You too", I say and gasp in surprise as Hanbin nips at my earlobe impatiently.
"What is it?" Meli asks anxiously, "Are you still there, CeCe?"
Sighing heavily Hanbin plucks the phone out of my hand and says, "She's fine. Take a hint. Have a good Easter." He listens for a few moments before chuckling and hanging up.
I stare up at him, "You shouldn't have done that."
"Apparently she's already outside", he places the phone back down on the counter and brushes a stray hair out of my face. "So what's it gonna be, CeCe? You gonna let her in?"
