I wake up a few hours later in a hotel room that smells overwhelmingly of Daemon, I myself am covered in it thanks to spending most of the night with Hanbin. I move as fast as I can while still being stealthy, having a thorough shower and using a combination of magic, the air conditioner and opening the door to try and disperse the rotting Daemon smell.

"CeCe?" Meli croaks and suddenly jumps upright, looking around wildly.

I feel really bad about what a mess this has all become.

"Yeah?" I sit on the edge of her bed and look questioning, "You alright?"

"You're here", she sighs and relaxes back down into the pillows, "Gosh. I had the weirdest dream."

"You told me not to carry on about my dreams and now here you go", I gasp mockingly.

"This was different", Meli rubs her face roughly, "It was so real. I can almost smell... Wait! I can smell Daemon!" She sits up again and looks around wildly before looking down at herself. "CeCe", she suddenly whines in a tiny voice that causes a rush of shivers to run down my back.

"What is it?" I ask quietly, grabbing her hand, "What's wrong?"

She looks me straight in the eye, her own wide and full of horror, "I think they got into my head."

I'm genuinely shocked she's realised so fast and reel back a little, "How...? I mean, how could they have reached you here?"

She chews her bottom lip, "I'm not sure. I can just smell something."

I guess Chanwoo left a lasting impression.

"Look", I try to distract her, "We're going crazy locked up in this room. Backup's not coming for a few more days so let's go out. Let's act like normal tourists and go see some sights. Shop. Have fun."

Meli immediately grins, "I thought you'd never ask!" She lets my hand go and reaches under her pillow.

I tense out of reflex but feel silly when all she pulls out is a tour guide, I guess we both keep very different things nearby when we sleep.

"I've been looking and there's a huge mall I really want to see with this fountain in the middle and a night club, I mean we don't have to go there, but it looks so good! And you have to see the animals they keep in a zoo here, there's all these monkeys and birds." She continues on and on as I listen and nod in excited amusement, this is the perfect plan to stop Meli killing the Daemons until I can figure everything out.

"Shops today then?" I ask when she finally stops to breath. "And the club tonight?"

"Yes! We need to buy some stuff so we can go out tonight. Have you seen what these people wear out? We're going to look amazing!" Meli jumps out of bed and stretches dramatically, "Let's get ready!"

"Gosh", I can't help but grin at her, "I didn't realise how happy this would make you. Sorry we've just been hiding out."

"Don't be sorry", she pulls me to my feet and into a tight hug, "I should have told you. I should have known that you'd never judge me for wanting to do regular things, no matter how important this mission is. You really are the only one I can rely on."

I hug her back despite the sickening guilt churning in my stomach, "Soul sisters have to stick together. I'll always do whatever it takes to protect you."

"I know you would", Meli pulls back and dabs lightly at her eyes. "Aw, man! I'm gonna cry. Lets think of something happier."

I brush away my own tears, "How about what we're going to wear today? You'll help me get all dressed up for tonight too, right?"

Meli bounces up and down in excitement, "Are you serious?"

"Of course I am. I need to look so incredible everyone will kind of suspect I might be a Fae princess."

Meli laughs, "I've got you covered. Let's get to those shops."

It's been a while since Meli and I could just relax and we take the chance for granted. Meli leaves her brunette curls down, lining her eyes thickly and sliding on a ton of bracelets before finally deciding to wear a both low cut and short summer dress. I save the makeup for tonight, tying my hair back into a messy ponytail and pulling on some shorts with a nice shirt. We spend the whole day running from shop to shop, the mall is huge and after getting lost several times we decide to take a break and sit down for food. It's an amazing experience, we've obviously heard about such places but I never knew there could be such a thrill. Back at The Estate everything comes to us after we request it. Personal tailors design clothes based on our own ideas or something they think will work, the house maids source the best hygiene products, tutors supply the required study equipment and so on. Meli literally dances out of every changing room stall, excited to show me what she's trying on whether it looks like a disaster or not.

"This is seriously the best!" Meli cheers as she stuffs a salad down. "Shopping is so much fun. We should move to the next mall! It's only a station away."

"Sure", I chew on my toasted sandwich, "Do you have everything for your outfit tonight?"

"Yeah. I'm all sorted there, I can't wait to see you in that top!"

It's a tiny, lacy thing which Meli found in a throw-out bin and immediately declared that the baby blue matched me way more. I've never worn something so small before but as Meli had put it 'why had we trained our whole lives if we were just going to hide under curtains?' At least now I know what she really thinks of my choice in clothing.

"You're such a perve", I joke with a laugh.

She laughs too, "Seriously! If we could wear clothes like this back at The Estate we'd both already be married. Maybe I should look for someone tonight", she taps her chin with a bright nail.

"What?" I gasp, "A human?"

"Just for some fun", she waves me off with a blush and I realise it's actually something she really wants to do.

"Hooking up with some random at a club is on your Earth bucket list, isn't it? Admit it."

"Fine, fine. Yes. But just some dancing and stuff, nothing too wild."

I roll my eyes, wild is pretty much the definition of Meli.
