Chapter 11: Doubts

It had been about 3 months, since Karin and Ai had started dating. Reiji was just being, you know 'Reiji', annoying and teasing about the two young couples. Of course, there had been a slight hesitant on whether will they be able to stay together. According to Ai's data and Doctor's news, there had been signs showing that Aine may awaken at any time. So Ai and Karin had to be mentally prepared to face the consequences after Aine's awakening.

"The relationship between the both of you, have been improving better day by day. Are you really mentally prepared?", Hakase asked. "Yeah, no matter what happens. I promised to always stay by her side, even if we may be far apart.", Ai whispered the last part. Hakase nodded, satisfied with the answer that he had received. "One's his awakened, the answer to your answer that you had given me, will be shown. Get ready.", he added. "I understand.", Ai stood up and left the lab. "Ai will you be able to stay by her side, if you knew that Aine had been in love with her for years already.", Hakase said after he had left.

Back at the Shining Agency

"Welcome back.", Karin greetd Ai at the door. "I'm back.", he said as he smiled at his lover. The two of them strolled through the surprisingly quiet hallways of the Master Course Dorms, hand in hand. "So where has everyone else gone?", he asked. "Starish had gone out for their shooting, just a while ago. The rest of the Quartet Night members are just chilling out in their rooms.", she replied. "I see..", he said. As they approached her room, she asked him worriedly, "Is there something wrong, Ai?". They settled down on her bed, with Ai sitting on her bed and Karin sitting on his lap. He gazed lovingly at her before telling her what the professor had said, she deserved to know. "I couldn't help but feel worried that I might not be able to keep you by my side after Aine had awakened.", he honestly replied. He suddenly felt warmth around his body as well. He gazed down only to find that she was hugging him tightly. "Karin?!", he exclaimed. "Idiot! You're not allowed to think like that! You hear me? We're going and you are going to be find, promise me that.", she stated, clearly upset by his words. "You better pro-", she was cut off by him as he wrapped his arms around her, leaning against her shoulder upfront. "I promise.", he said and sealed that promise with a kiss.
