"Kels, is everything ready in the kitchen?" I question my best friend as I'm walking through the fully decorated ball room. My phone buzzes in my pocket I know what I'll see when I pull it out but I check it anyway. My guess is right, it's Sam, probably the tenth text this week. I shove it back in my pocket I don't have time for that stress today.
"Yeah they're set up in there now and starting on the hors d'oeuvres" she answers. The tables are all adorned with black and gold place settings, the center pieces are a beautiful bouquet of white roses, and the walls are draped floor to ceiling with black curtains. It's set to be the best black tie event we've put together yet!
"Well I guess we should run up and get ourselves ready" I say. We've already set aside one of the upstairs rooms to use for the night. We may be doing well for ourselves these days but we are still our own beauty team. On our shopping trip last week I picked out an emerald green floor length gown for the night and Kelsie chose a dark grey dress with a beaded bodice for herself. I take down the messy bun I was rocking during set up and pin my long purple hair half up. I decide to just add a few curls to finish it off and start on my make up when Kelsie asks me,
"Did you ever think two years ago, when we started this venture, that we'd be where we are today?"
"Hell no! I figured we'd be stuck at our dead end jobs until we died of boredom." I joke. We were working together just a few short years ago in retail jobs, dreaming of a day when we'd have a better life. It started when we organized our first event back home in Kentucky. It was a small gig, we didn't even get paid for it, but after that first one we loved it! We decided that day this was what we were going to do with our lives, and it's been mostly up hill from there. Two years later and we currently call the city that never sleeps our home. Tonight has shaped up to be one of our finest, and our good friend Louis has volunteered to help us out with the entertainment for tonight.
"I'm so glad we Decided to go with the dj for this one so it won't feel too formal."
"Me too, and Louis and Steve will probably be getting here soon we need to hurry up and finish getting ready" Kelsie laughs from the bathroom where she's curling her blonde locks. After we feel fully primped we head back downstairs to do a final check and make sure everything is in order before the guests start to arrive. As I'm coming out of the kitchen I'm greeted by strong arms.
"Hello Love" Louis says "you look gorgeous as always, and the place looks amazing"
"Hey Lou, Thanks again for helping us out tonight."
"You know I'll help you guys out anytime I can Katie" Louis reassures me.
We met Louis Tomlinson about a year ago at an event we had put together in Denver. We all hit it off that night and Louis has been our good friend ever since. Any time he's in town he comes to see us, and even crashes at our place from time to time, He's helped us both through some tough shit. He releases me from his hug and immediately pulls Kelsie in an embrace and compliments her as well.
"Thanks Louis! The guests will be arriving any time now you better go get ready. We'll have to start greeting people and shouting out orders soon" Kelsie laughs.
"Alright then I'm going to set up I'll catch up with you girls in a bit. I've invited some people I want you guys to meet" He winks and leaves us both with a kiss on the cheek. Im hopeful tonight's event will go perfectly smooth.
