Kuroko Tetsuya was contented with his grade school life. Being the 11-years old that he was, it was all fun and games. He had friends who he hung around with during and after school and he did well with his teachers.

Unfortunately, things were different at home. His dad was abusive and a heavy drinker while his mother prefers to stay late at work. So Kuroko sought refuge in reading the books in his mother's bookshelf.

Anyways, back at school, he was friends with everybody, but he had three closer friends.

Niwa was a junior baseball player who was outgoing and loud. He attracts a lot of people around him, but he prefers staying with Kuroko and his friends.

Karen was a dancer. Her current dance is hip hop, but she does a lot of other dances too. She likes going out a lot of times and she's a huge spender because her parents are both abroad and she lives with her college sisters.

Zaeri was a guitarist. She's the third in class and she gets along well with everybody. She loves music a lot and she suggests a couple of songs for Kuroko to listen to.

The four of them were always together even after school, an they played almost every minute.

Unlike the other three, Kuroko wasn't particularly good at anything. He doesn't seem to know what he is good at.

That's why Niwa tried teaching him baseball. He was a good and experienced tutor, but no matter how hard Kuroko tries, he can't seem to find the right timing to hit the ball nor run faster than Niwa to reach the home bases.

"I don't think I'm cut out for this," Kuroko said with a sigh as he handed the bat back to Niwa.

Niwa pouted but patyed his friend's back, "Well, maybe Karen can teach you some moves,"

Karen approved of teaching him dancing. But ofcourse, based on experience, she tried to think of one that suits him. Looking at Kuroko's petite form, she thought that interpretative dancing is best. She expected soft, fluid-like movements from him, but it wasn't as she thought.

Kuroko was definitely not a stage person.

"Move your arms like waves! Flexibility, Kuroko-kun!" Karen yelled, crossing her arms, "Don't move the other leg, just the arm!"

He really thought that he was getting the hang of it but Karen disagreed. In the end, he gave up after a couple of days.

The last that he thought was asking guitar lessons from Zaeri. Unfortunately, it was harder than both of the other two combined.

"I'm sorry," Kuroko had obviously given up.

Zaeri smiled and said, "Well, you'll find your true talent soon,"

Kuriko believed in those words, but no matter what he tries to do, it's always not suitable to him. Zaeri started helping too, like the responsible and kind friend she was to him, and she brought out almost everything for him to try out.

From board games to hiking.

Kuroko was okay with board games, but he didn't like waiting for turns and Zaeri beats him most of the time. And hiking and other outdoor activities wore him quite fast.

"I really don't think I have a talent," Kuroko said one afternoon as he and Zaeri were walking along the riverbank.

Zaeri's yellow eyes darted to examine the seriousness of the teal-haired boy. Kuroko also stared back, watching as the soft breeze swept her slightly-curly emerald green hair with it. She stood out in contrast with the sunset and the orange-red skies, and he can't help but just stare.

"Oh, don't say that! Everyone has!" She chimed and gave a smile.

"You can say that because you're the 3rd in class and you can play instruments," he sighed and walked past her, eyes glued to the ground, "Compared to you, I'm nothing..."

"So what?" She ran up beside him, smile still in place, "You're my friend. That makes you special!"

Kuroko paused, shock evident in his face, before he responded with a smile of his own, "T-thank you... And... The feeling is mutual,"

"Yey!" She then started running off, "Race you to the playground!"

Kuroko groaned in response, "You know I'm not good with racing!!" He sighed but still followed her anyways!
