The Lost Symbol ( Part - I) 🔱

Chapter -8

"Probably this thing I have not done in my entire life madam Sophie ," Prof sounded sarcastic in saying.

"And what's that ?" asked Sophie.

"Well! Breaking in ," replied Prof.

"Oh yeah it's my first time too ," she said and joined the laughter.

They headed straight toward Steve's house and asked the cab driver to stop the cab  little behind the house.

" Why are we stopping here?" asked Sophie.

" I am sure there will be some police so it's better we stop here and I will try to enter by your help," He replied.

"My help?" , " How I am suppose to help you here, i dont even know the police men " Sophie was curious.

"Madam Neveue you are a pretty lady. All you need to do is to go and ask for adrress and confused them and I will try to enter by taking a chance. Well that's the whole plan I got ," Prof replied. 

"Ok I got it sir ," Sophie.

Time was almost 4:30 am and the night was changing its colour to darkest as it's the time after which lights will start to come"

Both of them started walking together and then Sophie went ahead of Professor Langdon. 

They saw two police men there on the gate of Steve's house. 

Professor tried to make eye contact with Sophie and gave her a sort of signal to distract.

Sophie went closed and didn't sounded a little scared. " Hello sir, I think I am lost . Can I ask for help," asked Sophie.

Both of them looked at her with clueless approach. Both of them wanted to help at once. They headed toward her and started giving introductions.

Sophie started to confuse them with her talk.

" I am new to this city and I am looking for this address which I think I lost. But I think it's in this area," Sophie was very clever in manipulating .

As they all turned their back toward the house. Professor tried to walk as no one sees him. He jumped over the wall which was hardly 4feet and started looking for any open window. Luckily he found one window which was struck a bit. So he tried to open it using some force. 

Khataaaakkk !!! 

It made a huge noise as it opened but it was broken .

Police officers noticed it as well. They tried running toward house and Sophie asap asked again " oh look! that cat made such noise,".

" Oh it was the cat ," One of the police men said and started talking to her.

Professor has entered the house and tried to be very silent and more of detective .

He used the light from his mobile which already had low on battery signal.

"Damn these stupid mobiles," he shouted at his phone.

" I must be hurry before the mobile gets turn off," prof murmured.

Prof  started looking everywhere with very keen eyes as he knew that  James had hidden his diary.

He looked every room including their sleeping room and the dining room. He opened every almirah of the house but found nothing. 

He sounded disappointed and thought either it's in the police custody or maybe it's stolen.

He was walking toward the outdoor as his foot got hit by a table and he fell on the wall with a noise. 

"This is not a noise that wall will make. It's wooden noise," Prof was curious from the noise he had heard from the wall.

He started touching the wall very gently and he found it was a secret chamber James and Steve made to hide their money. They painted it with the same wall colour.

Professor opened the chamber and found few thousand bucks.

" Cash ! it's not what I need. Diary where are you !" professor was searching and murmuring 

There were some papers . Professor took them and thus he found a small pocket diary .

"That's it. I found you " Professor kissed the cover of the diary as he was very happy.

He was out of the house now and quickly ran over toward the cab and waved his hand toward Sophie.

" That was very helpful sir," Sophie thanked the police men  and started walking slowly toward the cab. 

Police men shook hand and went to their duty as Sophie returned to the cab.
