So Ashwin, I guess we're friends now. Well we're still here at the juicebar but he took a bathroom break, is that a low-key way of saying that he doesn't want to be here? Okay, Jacob, Paranoia isn't your drift.
So here I am drinking my mocktail as I wait dumbly for Ashwin. I peer behind me, the thought of leaving on my mind. Luckily, he returns back to the bar, "So, what did I miss?"
I look amused, "Its an aeroplane filled with rich snobs, there's nothing to 'miss'."
He laughs half heartedly, similar to my usual laugh."So did you want to go to S.A. or are you on the fence?" he asks, playing with his cocktail umbrella. I look at him in ponder, "Uh...Well...There are pros and cons about everything so i wouldn't say I'm decided. I'll let the experience be the judge," I reply with a slight smirk at the cleverness of my answer. I think this plane and the motion sickness meds are making me more immature by the hour. Bleh.
"Cool. Well, I gotta go. I feel a bit feverish. You have my number, message me when you need some company," he laughs and continues toward his booth. I just stood up and he was back. He left he's booth card on the bar. He grabs it and just before leaving the bar, the plane begins to shake roughly and I stumble, spilling my mocktail all over him. He laughs it off and goes back to the bathroom. I feel embarrassed. First impression...ruined.
They say first impressions are important and I think that's ninety percent true, but through past experiences I know for a fact, people just aren't who they seem to be. Lemme skip back to a few months ago, Lora Sanders, freshman. She was the typical All American good girl. The ones who likes world peace and stuff like that. Well she was friends with Sarah. Good friends, hence we became friends. So she met this guy online on this forum, he was from India.
He was much older than her, about 19 and he was not the best looking person. Unlike Lora, with her striking hazel eyes and her brown with natural, blond highlighted hair. They got along like a house on fire but then, they just drifted apart. Mainly due to Lora's school and extracurricular. He didn't like this. He was pretty good at first sight or chat in this case but he began stalking her after she stopped chatting.
He hacked her phone and laptop and watched her, all the time. He watched her dress and chat to other guys but then she found out and he was stopped. Fortunately, she was not hurt in the process. Lucky.
I was jolted out of my mental monologue of events when the more turbulence began. The plane shook heavily despite its weight and size. Thats when I looked out to be met with big, dark, storm clouds. People began to panic and the people below in economy began to shout and scream. The flight attendants were desperately trying to calm down paranoid moms and frightened seniors. I began to think of the worst outcomes. Wait, I can't panic. I am definitely not falling into the same category as moms with crying babies, both filled with paranoia.
No, I am a guy and big boys don't cry. Oh great, now I'm QUOTING my paranoid mom when I missed dad. Lovely. As I almost begin another mental monologue, I hear a pilot announcement,
Attention all passengers,
Please take note that due to inclement weather conditions we must prepare for an emergency landing in the UAE, complimentary accomadation will be provided. Please do not panic and return your seats. Buckle up and prepare for landing.I dunno if it was in the pilot's plan but the announcement made all the passengers sit down...and panic their heads off. People were scattering around, grabbing as much packaged peanuts as they can and the there was one peculiar lady with a royal flair to her, she was just lying in the arms of a suited man. One leg up and a limo hand to the forehead, she looked like an actress from one of those vintage movies. "Oh, save me, my Prince!" The only thing of hers that needs saving is her Royale-Damsel-in-distress mentality.
Ugh, I hate it when rich people think money makes them special. The plane shook violently again, forcing everyone including myself to finally sit down, shut up and buckle up and then I could see it, a rich land, with Hugh buildings and busy streets. From afar it seemed to glitter in the warm sunshine. As I looked harder, the city began to grow in size and then I realized we had begun descending.
It was strange landscape with tree shaped islands and one that looked like the world mapWe then landed, abruptly stopping my analysis of my surroundings. I strained my eyes to see the sign outside the plane...: Dubai International Airport. Ah, sounds Asian/Indian...I love Indian food. And with that I got my hand luggage and jumped out of the plane. The air was crisp and more moist than that of the USA's. We got to the terminal entrance and a hot lady served me a juice. I think I'm gonna like this place and then I felt a bump to my back. It startled me and shook my balance causing me to spill half of my juice on one of the ladies. These spills need to stop.
ASAP.😧
