[Author-chan's POV]
"Since it's come to this, let's have him use a kickboard in the tournament!" Nagisa said.
As Gou saw the blue kickboard in Nagisa hands, she wondered if Rei could actually use the kickboard in the tournament. So she asked,
"Do the rules allow that?"
"That's an option. I don't think the rules prohibit it."
Gou turned around to see the owner of the voice.
"Mako-chan!"
"Good afternoon, Gou-chan." Makoto flashed Gou with his signature smile.
Nagisa whined and pouted, "Hey, what about me?!"
Makoto chuckled, "Good afternoon to you too, Nagisa-chan."
"But does the rule actually allow swimmers to have the kickboard?" Gou asked.
"Well to our knowledge, yes. But we'll have to look that up to be sure." Nagisa replied.
Then, Makoto, Gou, and Nagisa all heard someone swimming at the pool. When they turned around toward the pool, they saw someone swimming in butterfly stroke.
"Huh? Is that Haru-chan?" Nagisa asked.
"But Haru swims only freestyle." Makoto said.
"It's not me."
Out of nowhere, Haru came out and walked toward the trio, and talked to them. This startled Makoto, Nagisa, and Gou.
"Huh? Haru..?" Makoto said in shock
Then Gou said in a surprised tone, "Then that means...!"
"Rei-chan?!" The trio yelled in unison.
As Rei stopped swimming and pulled his cap and goggles off. Makoto, Nagisa, and Gou ran up to him.
"Were you just swimming butterfly?!" Nagisa asked.
"It was the only stroke I hadn't tried yet," Rei replied sternly. "Once I tried it, I was able to swim."
"Ehhh?!! How?!" The trio yelled in unison again.
Rei paused for a second, then he looked at Haru, who was at the fence, looking at the butterfly.
"Well... It's because I'm not free..." Rei said quietly.
