Louis P.O.V

As I'm heading to my class I hear someone call my name. I turn around slowly and see the coach of the football team.

"You need to be quarterback for the rest of the season." He says while handing me a varsity jacket. I look at him shocked.

"Why me?" I ask while looking at the jacket. He frowns and starts talking again.

"Because you're one of the best. Niall would but he's not strong enough like you are and you've got some good techniques since," He leans in closer and whispers. "you are the best soccer player I know." He had to whisper the last part because if everyone knew I played soccer they wouldn't look at me as the bad boy, and I wanted to keep that title for as long as I can.

"Okay, I'll do it." I shrug off my jean jacket and put the varsity jacket on.

"First practice tomorrow night from 4-6." He says and runs down the hall to the gym. I walk to my class and see the girls squealing.

(Lunch The Next Day)

I enter the cafeteria and sit with Liam and Zayn. Harry skipped today and Niall is getting food.

"So I hear that you are the quarterback now," Zayn says while nudging me. I look at him and smile.

"Yeah, I am," I say and continue eating my lunch. Niall and Danielle sit down and start kissing. My smile turns into a frown and Liam sees it.

"Hey, hey no PDA." He says and eats his macaroni and cheese. I look over to him and thank him with my eyes. He nods back and we sit in silence until Niall talks.

"Quarterback?" He says looking at my jacket. I look down and smile.

"Yup coach asked me yesterday," I say popping the p. His face turns a light shade of red and he tries to hold back anger.

"That's cool." He says through almost gritted teeth. I nod and get up slowly. Danielle watches me with a puzzled look on her face. I exit the cafeteria and run my fingers through my hair. I go outside and sit on the bleachers to smoke a cigarette.

I sit for a while and stare at my tattoos as the wind goes through my hair. I stare at one for a really long time, and that's the one in memory of Jade who moved away and never came back. It's her initials with tiny birds flying around it. She was my best friend and my only love. I hear someone clear their throat behind me and I pull down my sleeve.

"It's okay I didn't see it." She says calmly. I turn around and see Danielle. She sits beside me and puts her hand on my knee. Jade used to do that when I was upset or angry.

"Are you okay?" She asks me while moving closer.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I say nervously.

"You don't look fine." She says while making circles on my knee with her finger. "Why'd you leave the cafeteria?" She asks while looking into my eyes. I smile automatically.

"Your little boyfriend was jealous," I say while shrugging. She moves her hand up from my knee to my thigh and keeps drawing circles with her finger.

"He gets like that sometimes," She says while biting her bottom lip. "but he's not all that bad."

"Dani, I've known him for a few years more than you have. He is always like that when he doesn't get something." I chuckle.

"Well that's true but I think he changed a bit." She says while moving her hand up more. I place my hand on her knee and do the same thing. I look over at her at the same time she looks at me. I lean down slowly and put my hands on her cheeks.
