Lillies - why so many lillies?

Connor McKinley's entire room was decorated with lilies, on the shelves, the windows, the curtains, every single space was decorated with the blossom, miniature versions even on his clothes. he grinned at the mirror while humming 

"Turn it on. like a light switch, just go flick. da da da da dee dee da da" Putting on a lily brooch he almost skipped through the corridor (but he didn't really) to the breakfast room/lounge, reading through the texts from his Baby.

HEY CON, WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK? MISS YOU :(

AWWE DON'T WORRY, TIME'LL FLY. (IT HAS ONLY BEEN SIX MONTHS THOUGH)

He smiled while bumping into Kevin who raised his eyebrows

"You look happy" He grinned

"I'm getting a visit from my Baby" Kevin frowned

"Your boyfriend?"

"Kev, i've been a mormon gosh knows how long, i don't have a boyfriend. i mean Lilly" ah. that explained all the lilies. who was Lilly?

"Who's Lilly?" Connor laughed

"I forgot you haven't met her, she used to visit loads. I call her Baby cos she's my baby sister. she's three years younger than me" 

"That's sweet. when's she arriving?"

"I don't know, maybe in a few hours, she got the plane last night" Kevin nodded

"I'd love to meet her"

"She's really excited to meet you Mormon" He grinned, showing him a text. "She calls you Mormon McMormonson" Kevin grinned

"Not really anymore."

"You're hardcore badboy now!" He joked

"Coffee twice a day" Connor laughed

"Down from sixteen" He nodded, nursing his head at the memory of the hangover that had caused.

"Oy, that was a mistake" 

"I know, you were sooooo cranky!"

"I wasn't that bad"

"Keep believing that Kev" 

"You call me Kev now?"  

"Yeah, err do you prefer Kevin?" He thought

"Kev's cool"

"I know he is" He slapped him playfully

"Connor! you'll make me blush" Connor grinned before a voice cut in

"Connor? Sweetie?" Another voice made him whirl.

"Hey Con can i come in?" He opened the door

"Mom? what're you doing here? and with... with Steve" His mother spoke with trembling voice

"Honey we err... we need to talk and i - i thought since you and Steve are so close he might... be better at... breaking it... i - i..." She broke down crying so Steve took over.

"Lilly can't visit you again. she had an asthma attack so your dad took her to the doctors and it turns out it wasn't asthma" He finished "It was emphysema" He added softly "She died on the plane last night. i'm sorry" Connor sat down

"She's... gone" Kevin placed a hand on his shoulder

"Connor are you ok?" Connor didn't answer, he just stared straight ahead. he stared, and stared... and cried.
