Chapter 4: Love and War

The next day, Selene woke up early on Jay's arm and as she thought that she was still dreaming so as she tells to the sleeping Jay "I hope that you won't leave me Jay" and as she gently slides her hand on his face and kisses him in the cheek and a few moments later Jay awakes and Selene notices that he was actually moving she felt embarrassed and rushes to the bathroom to act like nothing happen but Jay greeting her "Good morning Selene what's going on?" and Selene replies "Oh nothing I just want to go to the bathroom that's all and I have a question, did you hear or felt anything in the past minutes?" and Jay replies "Huh what do you mean I didn't felt anything what's going?" and Selene replies with relief "Oh nothing I'm just going to bathe now see you later" and as she gets in she says "That's a close one" and Jay says to himself "Don't worry Selene I won't leave you because I love you too."

 As Selene takes a bath, Jay was on the holo-pad researching on the different species on monsters that they might see as a possible vessel for the corrupted essence, as he scrolls through more he found an unknown monster but he only found just a description on the sighting because whoever engages this monster never returns, they describe this creature to be a spider-like specimen with red glowing eyes and dark green substance dripping out of it, it resembles to the Colossal Arachnid but it seems mutated of sorts the danger level of this creature is ultraviolet but it's named by the community as the Ultraviolent. As Jay was frozen by what he is reading Selene went out of the bathroom, wearing her shirt and pants but not her shoes and her jacket, she noticed that Jay's facial expression was displaying so much fear in his eyes she began to ask "Jay what are you reading?" then Jay replies "It was nothing Selene" as for he hides the truth to protect her but Selene knows Jay and she asks again "Jay I know you so don't lie to me, what is going on?" and as Jay stands up and says "I found the corrupted but I have to fight it alone" and Selene suddenly felt disappointment mixed with anger and said "Jay you still don't get it do you and why am I here you still think you can do everything by yourself and no one is right beside you to help you that is why I am here so you won't bear the burden that you will face by yourself!" and Jay looking down then walks closer to Selene and with a worried, depressed face saying protesting "I don't want to lose you" and he grabs her arms and she looks of to the side and he continues "This thing we are up against is not only just an orange level or red level monster, it is a monster that whoever tried to kill this beast never returns and I am afraid, afraid to lose you because I might not be strong enough or fast enough to save you, if I could barely fight of a normal human who is possessed and how about a monster that easily covers half of Equidistant, half of the size of Manila, Philippines, I am just afraid of losing you so please I want you to stay back on this one because I cannot handle living without you knowing that I was not good enough to fight what my celestial parents want me to fight" and Selene suddenly hugs him saying "I won't die Jay, but I will if we don't work together and if you die I myself cannot live without you too so please let me help you" and Jay realizes that Selene is strong even without the power amulet he gave her and as Jay slowly raises his hand and hugs Selene back she continues "I want to fight with you rather than to see you struggle because you couldn't do it alone and I don't want to see you suffer" and as each of them let go and face each other Jay places his hand on Selene's face and kisses her on the head and she give a light smile as she wipes of the tear that fell from Jay's eye. As this event happened the Entities has noticed that Jay's soul has bonded with Selene's as they see that Jay's soul brightens and as he spends time more with her he becomes more powerful and they favor Selene for Jay.

As Selene helps Jay understand that she is there because she loves him more than he knows, then Jay sits down continues to reading the holo-guide to know more about the world and its' occupants Selene asks Jay if she could join him. So she just sits on Jay's lap between the holo-guide and him and he says "Is this really necessary" and Selene replies "Nope I just like staying close to you" and Jay says "I swear someone will open that door and we'll get caught" and as Jay says it their door opened and the Headmaster himself walks in and catching them in the act and the Headmaster says "Well now I know what you meant about yet" and Selene panics with a reddish face and says "Sir we weren't doing anything!" and the Headmaster gives a light laugh and said "It's just a joke Ms. Cassidy don't worry and also report to the field in 30 mins with your gear you two are going to have a sparring session" and Jay asks "With who sir?" and the Headmaster replies "Against each other" and the two was frozen in shock. After the Headmaster Lester left the room Selene was hyped about it and Jay felt neutral about it as to where Selene is excited about it but as well as he doesn't want to hurt her, and Jay said to her "Let's put a wager on this match, If I win you avoid the first encounter with that beast that we talked about but If you win you can dare me to do something." And Selene with a look of determination replying "You're on" and as they walk out of the room with their gear ready Selene grabs Jays hand as they walk and the fan students was melting their ears as they scream that the two famous people is considered as a couple and Jay replies "You know you didn't need to do that" and Selene replies "Just to make sure that no one steals you from me" and Jay let out a light blush and Jay said "Race you to the field!" and as he leaves her in the dust Selene yells "Hey no fair!" and as they went to the field Damian greets them saying "This is a sparring match so no serious blow alright and no use of the blades on your weapons so use the blunt side of it alright" and he explains further "The match will end if one gets pin down and after this exercise we are going out and hunt us a very unique beast on the next day so give your best out there." And as Jay heard what he said his mind was not on ease and as the bell rang Selene bursts into Jay but with his fast reflexes he blocked her attack and Selene gives a leg sweep which made Jay trip and she knees him on the stomach and as he was launched he then landing on his feet revealing he blocked her attack again and the two bursts onto one another their fists collide as they punched and the force was strong that is pushed back Damian a bit, and as when the fighting escalated quickly as to where you couldn't see them they finally stood in front of each other and they final engage on one more attack, Jay saw an image of the beast in his head which threw him off and Selene lands the punch and Damian and the Headmaster was amazed that Selene beats Jay and as Jay stands back up, Jay himself congratulated Selene and Damian and the Headmaster was confused themselves and Jay explained "If we continue fighting then there might not be a place to fight anymore so me and Selene agreed the first to connect his or her attack wins" and Damian and the Headmaster understands the agreement made by the two and Jay turns to Selene saying "So what was is it then?" and Damian and the Headmaster was asking to them "You two made a bet?" and Jay says "Yeah we made it earlier in our room" and Selene says to Jay "How about a date?" and the Damian and the Headmaster was in shock and Selene continues "You treat me to the theme park near the pier tonight, see you there!" and as she left Jay was surprised and so was Damian and the Headmaster and Jay says to them "She likes to tease me a lot" then Damian replies "Yeah but it's her way of getting you to notice her" and Jay asks "Why is that" and Damian explains "Well you have been spending some time with Maika so this is her way for you to notice her and you have been awfully busy so teasing you is her way of showing that she likes you" and the Headmaster adds "She probably likes you a lot so I would advise not to lose her because your both luck for having each other" and Jay replied nervously "W-what?! Were just friends am I right" and they both nod their heads sideways and he says "Fine you got me I do like her more than a friend but I don't want to compromise our relationship" and Damian says "Not noticing her signs and paying attention to others will" and the Headmaster "Word of advice, if you love her let her love you back don't suppress what she feels about you because of overprotectiveness" and Jay understands and said "Fine I will try not to be protective, she is a strong woman now she can handle most things herself."

Later at night time Jay waits at the pier entranced leaning against a post wearing a formal top and jeans with the same shoes he wears every day and after a few minutes of waiting Selene finally appears wearing a magenta blouse with a blackbelt and black pants and black heels and Jay couldn't help but to stare and Selene comes up to Jay asking "So, how do I look?" and Jay snaps out says "You would look better" and Selene says "What is there something wrong or something missing?" and Jay says "Yes" as he snaps his finger and Jay's jacket suddenly appear on Selene, and he said "There that's better" and she asks "Why would I need your jacket?" and Jay tells her "Because to let all the young men in this area that this beautiful lady is mine tonight" and it made Selene blushed so bright than before hiding her face under the hood of his jacket and Jay puts his hand on her face and she shows herself slowly and he said "Selene I was not teasing you I was telling the truth, now come on lets have fun alright?" and she smiles and grabs Jay by the hand and rushes into the pier. They see so many booths and so much rides so they tried the roller coaster, the merry go round, the how strong you are game, bumper cars and they even gotten some snacks and as the night was about to settle they last tried the Ferris wheel Selene leaning on Jay asking "Jay I don't want this night to end" and Jay asks with a smile "Why is that?" and Selene answers "Because this is the only night that I feel like I am your girlfriend" and Jay smiles and tells her "Why does it have to be only tonight?" and Selene looks him at the eyes and says "Does this mean?" and Jay replies "Yes Selene I want you to be my girlfriend" and she was happy, so happy that she accidentally rocked the cart that they are in and Selene hugs Jay but all good things come to an end as Jay noticed claw a giant one heading straight at them, and Jay carries Selene and jumps up and as he looks down what that was and he sees the sea suddenly rising to form a small hill then comes out the corrupted Colossus Arachnid. As they land on the pier Jay says to Selene "Save and evacuate the people I will hold it off" and Selene rushes and save the people who were the closest to the battle field and Jay calls Maika and her team saying "Evacuate everyone on the south west of town out of here, I will hold off the monster" and as the team of Maika helps the civilians and Selene getting them to her team, Jay fights the Corrupted, Jay summons his sword and hits the beast on its forehead and as the monster screams in anger it grabs the Ferris wheel and tosses it to Jay and as Jay doges the Ferris wheel but letting his guard down the beast hits Jay through a couple of buildings and as Selene was helping the last people on the jet she sees her amulet flickers and as she sees the monster about to stomp Jay, she rushed in able to block the attack but since she wasn't strong as Jay she was struggling to hold it in place and Jay carries her away from the battle and Selene's arm was fractured because of the attack and bled a bit this forced Jay to give her to Damian to heal and Selene told Jay "Wait for me so we can take it out together" and Jay tells Damian to hold her back and he then tells her "I don't want you to get hurt" and as he steps back a couple of steps, he creates a giant dome of energy surrounding the broken parts of the city and the monster and leaving only him and the beast in it and Jay says "This fight ends here" as he glows his pupils and his necklace lights up and he prepares himself for the fight that might decide his faith.
