Reyna:
"A heroe returns from his prison deep?"
I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding.
Percy would be fine. He would be back soon. As the realazation sunk in, a wave of relief washed over the entire table. (No pun intended, Percy.)
On this quest, I was the obvious outsider, being from another camp, and having no real connection to anybody here, but Percy always made me feel like i was at home here, like i was actually part of the group. I admired him greatly for his leader skills. If things had turned out differently, he would have made an amazing praetor. Since he first got to camp, he made me think of Jason, the way he carried himself, his confidence, even the way he walked.
If things had turned out differently, maybe he and I would've...
I let that thought trail off, glancing at Annabeth. And, beside her, Nico. No one besides us knew this, but on our journey back to camp with the Athena Parthenon, Nico and I had.. shared a few.. moments. Away from Coach Hedge, of course. But, regardless. He had barely spoken to me since he arrived on this quest, so it probably meant nothing to him. I eyed him silently, but his brought his gaze up and locked it with mine. I looked away first.
My mind flashed back to dark cave, alone with Nico while Coach Hedge was scouting the area. "You're so different from the rest of them, Reyna." He had told me, hands running down my arms. "I don't know what it is." He clearly still hadn't figured it out, and neither had I.
Everyone at the table began getting up, bringing me back to the present situation.
Here we had been, worrying like crazy over Percy, when Annabeth had seen the truth minutes after recovering from a bad concussion.
Well, she wasnt Athena's favorite daughter for nothing, I guess.
We all gathered around the plaque on the wall which Leo had inteligentally inscribed the Prophecy. (Ever since New Rome, I hadn't thought much of him, but I had to give him credit. This ship was seriously awesome.) Annabeth began reading out loud.
A Titans daughter freed from chains, Ok, we are up to here, since we freed Calypso."
She stopped, just for a moment, but we all noticed. She continued reading, this time her voice shaky, as usual, having figured something out way before the rest of us.
"Nine head east, traveling by night
Only eight will remain."
We sat in silence for a moment, until Hazel spoke, her voice small.
"So, that means, that before Percy returns..."
She trailed off.
I finished for her. Nico was the least of my problems right now, the most dreaded line of the entire prophecy being laid out in front of us, the thought we had been avoided for so long coming and meeting us face to face, giving us an ultimatum.
"One of us will die."
