Love,

Addie

Leo:

Now, some might say, I have a bad habit of catching on fire.

When I'm excited.

When I'm angry.

When I'm worried.

Especially when my friend comes running up to me, telling me the girl I love is on this island. That we found her.

And that she was dead.

So yes. I caught on fire. And I can't think, not a single thought is forming in my head. Only burning. Numb.

She cant be dead.

The flames licked higher.

Weve come all this way. Tried so hard to find her. She can't be dead.

The flames threatened to consume the boat, and I managed to calm myself down. I sat, numb, and expressionless, until Piper pulled me to my feet.

"No, Leo, no. We dont know if shes dead. Shes not responding though. Do you remeber anything here that could cure her? Any medicines she had in her cave?"

"Moonlace," I repeated. "Moonlace."

Pipers expression was blank, then confused.

"You mean those plants? They're all dead, Leo. Something on the island is killing them"

"Someone." I corrected. "Gaia"

Realization dawned on my friends faces. While I was here, Gaia had offered Calypso freedom in exchange for my life. What had she offered this time? Whatever it was, it would have been tempting. She refused to help Gaia, and it cost her her life.

I didnt realize I was crying until dark spots appeared on the sand I was staring down at.

Jason came up behind be, and awkwardly pulled me into a hug.

"Leo, Leo, its Ok. Piper's using her charmspeak on the plants. They're gonna grow. Calypso will wake up. She has to right? It was prophesized. Prophecies are always right. 'Titans daughter freed from chains', remember? C'mon Leo. It'll be all right."

I slowly stood up, wiped my face, and laughed shakily.

"This," I said, referring to my state of tears, "Never happened. Ok?"

"Got it!"Jason half-grinned.

We walked over to where Piper kneeled, charmspeaking the moonlace. She was putting everything she had into it, but,it was not working. The plants remained wilted, and I was starting to lose hope again, when a cry rang from the ship;

"Moonlace!" Hazel yelled.

We turned to see her wheeling down the ramp with Frank. (Her leg was broken, so I made a sort of makeshift wheelchair until it heals with abrosia and nectar.)

"I found moonlace in Percys room! I remebered him telling me when he was here, she gave him a plant to remeber her, and his mom took care of it all this time in New York! He wanted to give it to her for some reason if we found her, and it was in his room!"

I ran up to her, delicatly scooping the tiny plant from her hands. I took it over to where Calypso was laying, stretched out on an extra cot from the ship.

Carefully, cautiously, I twisted off the biggest, healthiest looking leaf on the plant, slowly opened her mouth, and placed it on her tounge. Trickling water into her mouth, we waited for something to happen.

Anything.

Nothing.

When suddenly, her beautiful brown eyes opened.

"Leo?" She asked.
