onesomething rapped at my window. i didn't think anything of it so i turned over to return sleeping. it happened again, this time more sharper and rhythmic, like the chords struck by a talented musician, certainly not the doings of a tree branch gone askew.
I opened my eyes warily, rubbing the sleep out of them. I switched one my lamp and checked my phone. it read 1:41am. I walked over to my window, careful not to cause a series of moans coming from the shattering bones of the houses structure so as to avoid waking up my family. I cautiously peeked between my blinds. nothing. I was about to breathe a sigh of relief and return to bed and sleep but my eyes were met with a grey pair. at first, I couldn't look away and once I jumped back in fright. my window opened, my mouth agape. I scolded
myself for not locking it earlier. I know that I should've ran and called the police or something but I was glued in my spot and couldn't seem to move. in came..someone not dressed in black as if they were to rob my house. instead, there, standing in front of me, was a boy, looking only two or three years older than me. his chest was heaving breaths, restricting. my house wasn't that high up."hello." I spoke. he made me curious. what would he want with me?
he closed his eyes. they were painted in hues of light blues and lilac, mimicking the skies behind him, a blue hand reached up to his face to rub it and then take through his hair. his eyes struck me, they danced in the moonlight, playful and enchanting, but ominous, like the moon, they were grey and had a dark side. they were swimming in skies of fear and uncertainty. I wondered what life they lived, what they've seen.
he didn't speak, instead he reached in his pockets and pulled out a battered lighter. with an expert flick of his thumb, it was alight. he played with it for a while and I watched the small flames dance. they were so beautiful, but dangerous. I should've thought that maybe he'd throw down some gasoline and light up my house, but the thought hadn't even danced across my mind. he then fumbled around for something else. a cigarette. he lit it, dropping the lighter back into his pocket. I watched his smoke, wafting away the smoke that he breathed out in perfect rings between his cherry red lips. he flicked the excess ashes off his smoke, I watched it glide to the floor, like leaves caught up in an autumn wind, drifting slowly. I looked up at the guy and cocked my head to the side, he intrigued me.
when I did this, his eyes squinted ever-so-slightly as if I also intrigued him. he pulled the smoke out between his teeth and dropped it to my floor, trapping it under his foot and squishing it into my floor. that was sure to leave a mark.
he held out a hand.
"come with me." he said in a deep raspy voice, it was smooth, enough to make me fall in a trance. I took his hand.
