two

we were far from my house by now. I searched for it, I could vaguely see it in the distance, the foggy night made it even more difficult.

the ragged wind whipping through my hair was cold and bittersweet, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, like trifle after fruit cake on christmas eve.

"where are we going?" I said, he just nodded. "it wasn't a yes or no question!" I shouted angrily.

I rolled my eyes. maybe he couldn't hear me cause of the wind that fiercely ripped in our direction as we ran on rooftops, biting at our skin, creating goosebumps in its wake.

I wasn't cold, I don't know if it was his warm hand that filled me with warmth, but I wasn't cold, I was never one to get cold easily anyway.

I watched him jump with me once again over a rooftop. the space was narrow, the rooftops were closely placed so it wasn't hard. in the space between us, a dog ran down the aisle, furiously shouting at us. I smiled and waved. that was until I tripped on a loose slate and lost grip of his hand. he looked confused at the emptiness where my hand was previously and when he saw me, his expression transformed into one of alarm, he got set straight away helping me up, if he didn't, I was dog bait. it wouldn't be a nice way to end too, the waterfall of dribble told me that. he grabbed my hand and pulled my whole body up onto the roof with ease. my chest was heaving, my lungs being filled with the air they love the taste of. we stared into each others eyes, I noticed that his glanced at my lips for a brief second. now I couldn't breathe at all. his eyes were so captivating. he brought my hand up to his mouth and planted delicate little kisses across my knuckles. he barely held my hand, like I was a bubble, so delicate and fragile. my eyes widened. who is he? he smiled a small smile, not a devious smirk, but a genuine lopsided grin. then he had grabbed my hand and off we were.

finally I regained composure. I planted my feet on the ground, pushing all my weight on it, it didn't slow him down at all. I stuck my foot in front of a brick out of place and it did the job. he looked at my feet to my eyes. he shook his head, amused. he turned back, but I was determined.

"where are we going?" I raised my eyebrows.

to be completely honest, I didn't care so much where we were going, I just wanted to hear his voice. it was he spoke the language of the stars and tone of the moon. the music that I needed. the symphony of a thousand hummingbirds in luscious sync. it was tired and raspy, the voice of a boy who once screamed too much pain, but made gold with it.

he narrowed his eyes at me, tightening his grip on my hand. "somewhere, were not planning ahead."

he continued on his way. his voice was like a stream, flowing and fast, hitting all the right places and so, so blue. I took this opportunity. "not a fan of planning then?" I hopped over loose tiles.

he shook his head, focused on getting up from roof to roof safely.

"what about school? you have to plan for that." I cleared my croaky throat.

i don't want him to see I'm nervous. I wish I could show him a magical voice that sounds like the colours are singing, vivid ones. like a sun shower, so light and colourful with a hint of dark. so mysterious and enchanting. that what he was to me.

"I dropped out." he stated bluntly.

"how old are you?" I asked, examining the back of his head. when he turned his head, I got brief glimpses, the moonlight kissed his cheekbones,
making his face look hollow and skeletal. his hair was as dark as the skies above us, eyes as grey as the greying anticipating clouds above us, complete with a silver lining.

"for me to know and you to find out."

I looked up to the sky, bored of watching my step. "you're mysterious." I stated. his head lifted from where he was watching his step and grinned over his shoulder at me.

"you like that?" he turned back.

"no, I don't like things I can't grasp." he was mysterious though, like the shadow of the moon, did it hide secrets like my shadows do? "do you like the
moon?"

he didn't answer for a while, taking a deep breath. he stopped and turned to face me. "what are you doing?" his expression remained still, his eyes casually roaming my face.

"what am I doing? you mean, what are you doing." I glared at him.

"you aren't lashing out. I practically kidnapped you." he blinked and his eyelids fell lazily. his eyes were carrying never ending bags of purple.

I didn't know what to say. I shrugged my shoulders. "you don't seem the one to do anything to me."

he face turned stony and hard. I almost stumbled backwards, being subject to his stare. "you don't know anything about me."

I gulped and looked away. "I never said I did."

it remained silent for a while before he frowned and turned back. "we're here."

surprised, I stepped forward to see what he was gesturing at. a convenience store?

"what do you want with that place?" I said, confused.

"we're going to rob it."
