I've been super busy at work since my day off. There was an issue with one of the designs and I had to troubleshoot. It took a lot of time and a lot of thinking to figure out how to fix it last minute. I even had to get some help from some co-workers, but I made it work.
Today is Wednesday and the fashion show is Saturday. Our rehearsal is tomorrow and I'm getting more and more nervous about it. What if everything goes horribly wrong or no one likes my designs?
There was a knock at my office door.
"Come in." I said loud enough for whoever was outside to hear.
The door opened and Liam walked in.
"Hey Morgan"
"Hey Liam. What's up?" I finished what I was working on before looking up at him.
"Erm. We just arrived and didn't know where you wanted us to go." He said, shifting a bit awkwardly. I knew he could tell that I was a bit stressed.
"Ok just wait in the lobby and I'll take you all to alterations in a minute."
He nodded and left just as suddenly as he had arrived. I ran my fingers through my hair and let out a deep breath. I had a lot to do today and forgot that One Direction was coming in for their tuxedo fittings. I had to made sure that they looked spot on to host the fashion show. I chose tuxedos last week and today they had to be altered.
After closing the book I was writing in and grabbing my cell from the drawer it always sits in, I hurried out of my office and towards the lobby. I found the five of them sitting around awkwardly as if they didn't know what to do in a formal workplace.
"Morgan!" Harry jumped up from the couch and wrapped me in a hug. The others seemed happy to see me as well. It made sense when I saw some of the dirty looks they were getting from other employees that didn't find them amusing.
I apologized for the rudeness. They brushed it off like the nice chaps they are and I ushered them to the alterations desk. Mrs. Primrose is the queen bee of the department and makes it her job to know everyone's business, even if it didn't affect her in the slightest.
After checking in with her and answering all 50 of her questions, we were shown to the fittings room. Each little dressing room there had one of the boy's names on the outside and their corresponding tuxedo on the inside. Tailors arrived presently and as soon as each of the lads were in their tuxes, got to work. Many pins, marks, nips, and clips later, they all changed back into their own clothing and I escorted them back to the lobby.
I held the alterations door open as they exited to make sure that none of them fell behind. Niall was the last one through the door and hung back with me as we walked.
"So how about that date?" He asked, trying to act nonchalant. I smiled at him kindly.
"Niall I would love to, but this show is killing me right now. Everything has to be perfect and it's not. This is my one shot." I explained, unable to meet his eyes after the first few words.
"So?" He sounded as if my troubles were the most trivial things in the world.
"So?!" I repeated with a slight rise in my voice. I looked him square in the eye, silently daring him to belittle the importance of my job again. He shrugged and looked ahead.
"Yeah. I mean, why get stressed over it? You are allowed to take breaks. Take one with me." He spoke as if it was ever so easy.
This time he was the one avoiding eye contact. It shouldn't have impacted me at all, but with all the stress that I had been working with lately, his words ticked me off.
"I can't just take a break because it's hard, Niall. My boss gave me a chance to prove myself here as a designer and if I screw up this fashion show, I may very well be out of a job. Things were hard enough before I took a day off with you guys but now I'm behind." I defended my work ethic.
He chuckled to himself. Why was he laughing? This is serious to me! I stopped in my tracks and faced him, showing that I was not amused.
"I'm not saying it's not important. I just meant that you shouldn't stress out." As he finished, one of his fingers made contact with my chin and brushed across my cheek lightly. My eyes were locked on his boyish smile and I was unable to speak.
"Quit acting all prissy and take a risk. Might do ya some good." He winked.
Just like that I melted. All my resolve was gone. The simple touch of his hand and the playful look on his face were enough to put out any fire in me that had risen.
He turned away and joined the others. I hadn't even noticed we were already back in the lobby. They all said thank you's and goodbyes. As they walked out, Niall turned back to me.
"Think about what I said. I'll pick you up after the rehearsal tomorrow. Later Priss."
I opened my mouth to reply but they were gone. This boy was like nothing I had dealt with before.
I pushed all thoughts of Niall from my head as I returned to my office. I had to focus and couldn't let a boy distract me, no matter how attractive or charming he was.
After many more hours of work, it was time to go home. Before leaving I made a checklist of everything that needed to be done before the rehearsal tomorrow. After carefully going over every aspect of the show, I slipped the list into my top drawer and packed up my things.

As soon as I entered my flat, I kicked my heels off into their usual place by the door. I rubbed my right foot and winced as I made contact with the newly formed blister. I would need a bandaid on that tomorrow.
Charlie came into view and meow'd happily at my arrival. It instantly put a smile on my face. I petted him for a while, talking to him in that voice that everyone seems to use with animals and babies.
After I fed him, I went into my bedroom and started stripping off my clothing. I replaced my strapless bra with a sports bra and my business outfit with yoga pants and an oversized shirt. I pulled the bobby pins from my half-up hair and shook it loose before twisting it all up into a clip. It isn't the most attractive look, but is super comfy. I slipped on my moccasin slippers and went into the kitchen to make dinner.
I decided that I was too tired to cook a full meal and opted for a TV dinner. After I pulled it from the microwave, I plopped into the couch in the living room and turned on Family Feud, my favorite gameshow. I watched TV with Charlie curled up on my lap for a while before deciding it was time to go to bed.
After I was ready for bed, I set out my outfit for tomorrow. As I curled up in my bed, I took a deep breath. Tomorrow would be great. Everything will work perfectly. I kept saying that to myself until I drifted off. Just as I was about to fall asleep my phone dings, signaling a new text.
I groggily pull it to my face and open the message.
Niall: Goodnight Priss. See ya tomorrow ;)
I smiled at the text. He was just so precious. I fell asleep with my hands clutching my phone and my lips smiling.
