-=Chapter 3=- -=Life is Pure=-
The smell of warm fluffy blueberry pancakes flies to my nostrils. I jumped of from my bed and ran down stairs to the kitchen. Souta, Momoka, and my parents are sitting down in the table about to eat. The table has blueberry pancakes, sausages, sunny side up eggs, a whole meal!
"Oh, good morning Rinkuta." Said my dad.
"Good morning. Mmm! Smells good." I said as I sat down next to Souta in the table."
"Rin, you have some bed hair." Souta laughed. He brushes my bed hair down with his hand, my heart jumps for a second.
"Well I did just woke up." I started filling my plate with 2 pancakes, a few sausages, and 2 sunny side up eggs.
"Woah, since when did you started eating a lot Rinkuta?" Questioned mom. She placed orange juice next to my plate and sat down next to Momoka and my dad.
"Hehe, well ever since I've transferred to Mana Wizard Academy I've been eating a lot more. Their food is pretty good." I was about to take a bite into my pancakes but I thought about my friends from the academy. I miss them. They are my friends, even though I don't really know them as much. Out of nowhere I thought of Haru's face. I shook my head, then looking down as red blossomed from my cheeks. Why did I think of him? He's just a friend.
"Rin, aren't you gonna eat? Your food is going to get cold." Souta said.
"Uh.. Y-Yea...!" I took a huge bight out of my pancake from my fork and felt sad.I finished my breakfast and went to my room. I got dressed so I won't be wearing my pajamas all day. Yuki got out of her little home that Momoka gave her (a doll house).
"Rinkuta? What's the matter?" Yuki said.
I sighed and started playing with Yuki with my finger, poking and petting her.
"I don't know why but I feel a little home sick... Ish... Like away from the Academy. I missed the girls." I said.
"And what about Haru?" Yuki smirked.
"W-What?! Well... Of course I miss him. He's also my friend..." I stubbornly said.
"Rinkuta! Can you please come down here." Said my mom from down stairs.
"Yes, ma'am." I jumped right off my bed, allowing Yuki sitting on my shoulder. I walked to the stairs and and I see my mom on the stairs as well. Souta was standing next to my mom as well. "Yes mom?"
"Can you take Souta out. He wants to see his friends that he hasn't seen for so long.""No, you don't have to. I'm just going to see my friends." Souta said.
"But you haven't been here in forever. I don't want you to get lost." Mom said. "Hurry up and get going okay." Mom pushed Souta and I out of the house.
"Wait mom! My wand!" I cried.
"There's no need for magic here. Just act normal like how you used to." Mom said.
"That's when I didn't know I was a wizard till the last minute! Mom!~"
Mom ended up shutting the door on us and locking it.
"Uh... I guess we have no choice." I muttured.
"Ha ha ha. I guess so." Laughed Souta.
We both gazed at each other's eyes, my cheeks became bright red.
"Ah!-- S-Souta, let's get going..." I stuttered.
"R-Right..."
We both started walking together to visit Souta's friends when he used to live with us.
"Psst! Rinkuta!" Whispered Yuki from my shoulder. "Don't get too close to this guy. I know technically you two are like brother and sister but I can't trust him. He always want's to get close to you..."
"Yuki! It's fine!" I blushed. "All were going to do is visiting Souta's old friends and then will go back home." I whispered.
"Hm..." Yuki Pouted. "Still.. I don't trust him..."
"What was that Rin? Did you say something?" Souta questioned.
"Oh n-no. I didn't say anything..." I said.
"Oh okay. We're almost there." Souta said.
Wow, I can't believe he still remembers. It's been years and he still remember their houses. We ended up at one of his friend's house, Souta knocked and waited. The door opened, we see a women holding a baby in her arms.
"Hello." Kindly said the women.
"Hello Ms. Chishu. It has been a while." Souta smiled.
"Wait, are you Raitoningu-kun? You've grown up so much! You became so handsome compared to my sons." She laughed.
"Thank you." Souta smiled.
Wow! Talk about being cocky! Well it's true, he is pretty good looking. Almost all the girls are in love with him because of his looks.
"And is this Yukimura-chan? Wow, you so beautiful."
"Uh-- T-Thank you... But that's the true." I said.
"Aww! Don't be so modest. Are you two here for the boys?" Ms. Chishu questioned.
"Yes ma'am. Are they here by any chance?" Souta asked.
"I believe they said they were going to the park."
"Okay, thank you. Have a nice day." Souta bowed then we both left to the park. I looked around, I know it's only been like two months since I was gone but it feels like I've been gone forever. Everything feels so different. Like--
'Life is pure.' a young girl spoke.
My eyes widened with fear. I turned behind me, no one was there. What was the voice just no? Where did it come from? 'Life is pure'? What does that mean?
"Rin? What's wrong? Are you not feeling well?" Souta questioned.
"Souta, did you hear a voice?' I asked.
"A voice? No. Are you okay? Do we need to go home?"
"...N-no... I'm fine... Let's go to the park." What was that... That voice... I don't know why but I feel like I know that voice...It didn't take us that long for us to make it to the park. We see a group of boys on their personal game consoles. We walked to them, I'm so nervous. We haven't talked to them in years.
"Hey." Souta said. The boys looked up and saw Souta, they put down their game consoles as they stared at him.
"Souta. Is that you?" One of the boys said.
"Yup, the one and only." Souta smiled.
"Souta! What's up man! It's been years!" All the boys crashed on top of him , I guess they really missed him.
"Ow... What the heck guys. That hurt." Souta spat.
"Uh oh. He's mad." The boys laughed.
"Here." One of the boys helped Souta up from the ground.
"Thanks." Souta is surrounded with his friends, they all looks so happy.
I frowned, I miss the girls so much... No Rinkuta! Stop being selfish! They have their own family! They need to relax.
"Hey, is this Rinkuta?" Questioned one of the guys.
"Uh... H-hi..." I muttered.
"Woah, she looks pretty cute."
W-What!? Me? Cute!? Nah-ah.
"Yea your right! Remember how much of a cry baby she was when we were younger." One kid laughed. "Yea. Every time when one of us would get hurt she would cry instead of us." "Then her best friend Mayu would get mad at us for making her cry." "Then Souta will make us apologize to Rinkuta for making her worry. What the heck was all that about." The boys went on and on about me in the past.
I sighed, I can't believe I was such a cry baby... Every little thing they did that might hurt them I cry...
"Rinkuta. Let's go ditch these losers and let's get something to eat." Flirted one of the guys.
"W-What?!" I stuttered.
"What! He already beat me to it!" wined another.
Souta went to me and hugged me from the side, allowing me rest on his shoulder.
"No one is taking Rin." Souta said.
"Wait, are you two going out?!" "Dude I'm sorry of what I said. I didn't know you two were a thing."
I stubbornly pushed Souta away.
"I don't belong to anyone." I stubbornly said.
"Woah! Since when did you started acting strong?" Questioned one of the guys.
"Ever since she transferred to Unity Cross Academy. She's pretty talented." Saota lied.
What? Unity Cross Academy? But... Souta gave me a wink as if he was telling me to keep Mana Wizard Academy a secret.
"Really?! What are you studying under?" They questioned.
"Uh..." I thought of my magic. "Ice... Ice crystals." I said. "I'm learning how to make some for myself." I lied.
"Wow. That's so cool! I wish I can be smart like you two." The kids exclaimed.
"Achoo!" Sneezed Yuki.
"What was that sound?" a boy asked. "Rinkuta, did you just sneezed?"
"I uh..." What do I say? What do I say?
"There's something on your shoulder." One of the guys grabbed Yuki from my shoulder.
"Sh-She's mine!" I shouted, they all confusedly looked at me. "I-I mean... That doll is mine... I made it."
"You've done pretty good sewing. How come the doll is so cold?"
She's technically snow ever since I became a wizard. She was a doll until I had realized I was a wizard.
"Well um... I made it to be cold so it can keep me cool from the heat... It was my research for ice crystals." Please believe me!
"That's pretty cool." They ended up giving back Yuki to me.
Hopefully Yuki won't get mad at me because I called her it... I looked at the time on my watch, we've been out here a little too long.
"Souta."
Souta nodded.
"Looks like we have to go. I'm glad I can see you guys again." Souta and I started walking away from the group.
"Bye, visit anytime! And I don't mean you Souta!"
Eh... What does that supposed to mean...
"I will never leave Rin with you guys and you know that." Laughed Souta.
We ended up walking home together.
"Jeez Rinkuta! I was that close to go back in the summoning world." Yuki pouted.
"I'm sorry Yuki." I apologized.
Yuki ignored me, aw man! She's mad!
"Fine! Then I won't make any cookies." I said.
"What! Okay! I forgive you. What type of cookies are you going to make?" Yuki exclaimed.
Souta and I laughed. Of course, when it comes to sweets she will forgive me no matter what. 'Life is pure'. I thought about those very words. What does that supposed to mean? Life? Pure? Something doesn't feel right...By: Melanie Moreno
