We went back into the building the same way we came in. Everything seemed almost the exact same - it's like we've never even left.
I got up and shook myself off.
"I'm gonna find Spire. Have to give him an excuse as to why I disappeared for hours." Queno said to me and Nyla and walked down the corridor.
"I'm going to my room." Nyla grunted, not even facing me.
She stormed away towards the opposite corridor and disappeared out of sight.
"So how was it?" A voice whispered behind me.
I almost jumped out of my skin. I turned around to see Hero, and I gave a great sigh of relief. If Zion was there? Probably would've just about started crying under pressure. Typical.
"What?" I questioned him.
"Your little outing. Glad to see that you guys are getting along well."
"My - what? I don't know what you're talking about." I turned away from him to walk away, but he grabbed my arm and spun me around. Seriously, dude? Who does he think he is? Prince Charming?
"Let go of my arm." I mumbled, looking down towards the ground.
"Oh, Alyssa." He chucked, lifting my chin up so I could look into his eyes. They were grey in colour and had that sort of smirk in them.
"You see, I'm kind of in charge of the cameras around here. So my room? All the screens to watch everything that goes on around here."
Creepy?
He chuckled again and moved his fingers to my hair.
"I know what you're thinking." he smirked, playing with my dark curls in between his fingers. "Not in that way. But I know that you guys had quite some time outside."
I don't know if he was trying to flirt with me or confront me. Either way, it was working.
His face shifted closer to mine.
"S-So?" I spoke. I tried to sound braver than I was. It was obviously seen through, though. I sounded like a coward.
"What are you gonna do about it?" I asked him.
Please don't tell. Please don't tell.
"Absolutely nothing." My heart slowed down in my chest and his lips weren't even an inch away from mine.
He smiled at me and then let go of my body - pulling away to an appropriate distance.
I almost collapsed to the ground. I feel like he was literally lifting me up.
"Don't hurt yourself, Alyssa."
He winked at me and walked away.
That was.. weird? My like - fourth day here and I've already almost kissed three guys. That's got to be a record.*
I woke up the next morning tired as hell. I knew that they'd be doing their routine - the meeting stuff and I'd have to go there and listen in because temporarily I'm one of them.
I got out of bed and changed into one of the red outfits in the closet. This whole situation? Still, weird. They've even 'provided' me with underwear. Apparently it's new, but seriously - I'm wearing underwear that a stranger gave me.
But you don't wanna hear about my underwear, right?
I went through the sliding door out of the room and towards the main hall.
I sat down in the seat I usually sat down in and pulled in the chair.
I caught Queno's eye and she smiled at me. It was nice - as if we shared a secret.
Zion walked in and everyone went to their seats.
"Morning."
"Good morning, Captain." I mumbled with the others. Captain. I scoffed aloud. Pfft. Does he have some sort of kink or something?
Before Nyla took her seat, she came over to me and whispered into my ear.
"Alyssa. Do you really think Gero Morre would approve of that?"
My face flushed red. Gero Morre. As in, the guy that almost made out with me at the party.
Zion froze and looked at Nyla.
"What did you just say?"
Nyla stared at him in shock.
"What?"
"What did you say, Nyla."
Queno looked at me wide - eyes.
"Um, I uh, I said, um.." she began.
Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie.
She looked at me straight in the eye.
"Gero Morre." She repeated.
That son of a-
Zion slowly turned his head and looked at me. "Gero Morre? And may I know how you're familiar with Gero Morre?" His voice raised louder and I practically jumped in my seat.
"I-he's-uh-" I was stuttering.
He looked at Nyla and asked her.
"How does she know him, Nyla?"
Nyla never broke eye contact with me.
"Because she kissed him at a rooftop party yesterday."
God motherfucking damnit.
Zion's eyebrows were raised. I've never seen him so mad.
"I-I can explain-" I began.
Those words never bring luck, do they? Whenever someone says 'I can explain' they can never really explain. I mean, I should know. My ex boyfriend's said it to me before.
"Explain? You can explain?" He clenched his fists.
Hit me. Just fucking hit me. I can take it.
"So, let me get this straight. I find you, practically on the streets." His fists were clouded with black smoke. Woah, does Zion have fucking superpowers?
Wrong thing to be thinking about right now, Alyssa.
"I take you into my care - give you something to eat and something to wear - somewhere to fucking live. And I do everything in my power to get you to wherever the fuck you came from, And you sneak outside and 'mingle' with sketchy guys and now you're trying to explain?"
His fists still had smoke around them.
"I'm-"
"Go." He stood up and slammed his fists into the table.
I looked around at the others.
"I'm sorry." Queno mouthed from across the table.
I stood up and left the table. I felt everyone's eyes on me as I left the hall. It finally came to me that Nyla probably set this up.
I could see the smug look on her face right now.
That little bitch.
