I blinked slowly as I crept out of bed, rubbing my eyes and yawning.
I was up all night, stressed out, and when I finally slept it was already bright outside. I was hoping and begging that this was all a dream, but fuck no it wasn't.
My ground hit the floor and I almost fell over, not used to sleeping on a bed aa soft as Queno's.
I looked down at my clothes and somehow I was changed out of the outfit given to me by the girls.
I was wearing white pyjama shorts and a plain, white vest.
The sliding door moved and I almost jumped out of my skin.
Queno and Nyla entered the room, and from the looks of it, they got enough sleep.
"Morning!" Queno prounced on the bed and grinned widely.
"Morning." I sat on the desk chsir across the room.
"You're up late." Nyla grunted, resting her forearm on the side of the door frame. "You were supposed to meet Zino at his centre. He needs to talk to you"
I scratched my head, confused.
"Nyla, we didn't tell - remember?"
"So? She should know."
Queno rolled her eyes and looked at me.
"It's okay, Alyssa. We'll bring you to him now."
I nodded my head and stood up.
Nyla walked infront of me, stopping me in my path.
"Not until you change."
I was handed the same outfit - uniform type from yesterday and stepped into the closet to change. When I was done, Queno and Nyla led me out into the hallway. I couldn't remember my way and was surprised that they knew where they were going. It was a large ass buulding - multiple stories, so many places I could guarentee I wouldn't remember.
Suddenly, I found myself facing a large, black door.
Nyla and Queno stopped infront of me - Nyla inspecting my attire and Queno grinning, again.
"This is it." Nyla sighed, moving out of the way for me to press the button beside the door.
"You're not coming in?" I asked, confused.
"He wanted to see you. Good luck, you're probably not in trouble."
The girls both walked off down the corridor and I took a deep breath. I was certain now that was their kind of leader or captain.
I pressed the button reluctantly and the door slowly slid open.
I stepped into a dark room with weapons and ammunition hung up high and proudly on the black walls. Old, ancient swords and spears mounted on shelves, artifacts that came from by the looks of it 2016 itself.
Zino was resting on a table, his side facing me, with a pictureframe in his hand.
I cleared my throat, making it obvious to him that I was there.
Out of shock, he looked up and slammed the frame back, facing down on the table.
"Alyssa?" he spoke.
"Yeah, it's me. I was told you wanted to talk to me..?"
"Uh, yeah, I do." he announced politely.
I walked closer to his desk and he motioned for me to sit sown infront of him. I sat down and he got up and did the same to his own.
I looked around at his centre, he had cameras set up in every single hall, which meant there was a hell of a lot of cameras.
He also had pictures on the wall of all of the other people from this place, Nyla, Queno , the other people whos names I couldn't remember.
There was one picture of a girl who was scratched out and I couldn't recognise.
I turned my attention back to him.
"What did you want to talk to me about?"
"Um.. " he ran his fingers through his hair. "I wanted to ask you something."
I waited for his reply.
"I need you - We need you for something."
I sat back, confused. What could he possibly want?
"We're working on it, the time machine stuff and how you got here. We're gonna try take you back - I was going to tell about it, I promise. Uh.."
He stressfully ran his fingers through his hair, again. I could tell he was under some pressure for reasons unknown to me.
"I, um- I mean, I mean we need you for something."
He was nervous and I placed my chin upwards.
"We, uh.. we lost a member recently."
I could sense sadness in his voice.
"Uh, nevermind. I mean, just - will you join our crew?"
I sat back up into my seat.
"What?" I asked.
"Will you.. join our crew? Just for a little bit, just until Spire builds a time machine to bring you back - I promise it's not long term or anything, it's just that -"
"Join your crew?" I stood up out of the seat and paced the room. "I don't even know what you people do here! What the fuck? Dude, I don't think I can do that. Oh, fuck no - this is a mistake."
"Please, Alyssa - Nyla will tell you everything! It's not complicated, I guess -"
"Nyla? Nyla. The one with the blue hair who absolutely hates my guts for whatever reason? No. No- No. This is a mistake. I got to get out of here. I have to go home."
"Please, Alyssa. Sit down."
I looked at him, whom looked like he actually felt a general emotion.
I sat down, slowly.
"Alyssa, we really need you. I mean, if you join us we'll get you back. And we need to protect you."
"Protect me from what?"
He looked down and had the same look of sadness in his eyes.
"That's.. that's not important right now."
I looked up at him - he was staring back at me. I didn't know what to say.
"So.. you guys took me in to protect me."
"Yes."
"And you want me to join your..'crew'."
"That's correct."
I slouched back into the chair and sighed.
"Fine." I gave up, and he smiled from ear to ear.
"This is a mistake." I shook my head.
"Trust me, it's not."
I smiled back at him. So far he was the only person in this place who actually communicated with me on a different level, and I could sense an attraction.
God, what am I thinking?
