"hello?" my best friend carter's voice rang through the phone.

"dude, don't freak out, alright?" i asked, sliding into the front seat of my car. i stuck the key in the ignition quickly.

"i'm all ears." he responded. i drove out of the parking garage and zoomed onto the busy street, cutting a few people off. i got a bunch of angry honks in return.

"ok, so i picked this chick off the side of the road. i thought she was homeless or something, so i thought it would be nice to pick her up and take care of her, right?" i asked. he mmhmmed in agreement.

"wrong. she turned out to be a psychopath. she broke my laptop and nearly beat me to death." i said, turning onto ventura boulevard.

"why?" he asked

"because i wouldn't tell her i loved her." i said, cringing at the words. carter laughed.

"well, what do you want me to do about it?" he asked, still laughing.

"all i ask for is a place to stay. she's still in my apartment. i don't want to be there when she wakes up." i said, stopping at a red light.

"i'd love to help, but my girl's parents just got in town and i don't have enough room."

"dude, i can sleep on the couch! the floor! anything. as long as i'm away from that...thing." my words became acid.

"look. if you want her out, get rid of her. and you know what i mean."

"i can't kill the girl!" i said in a ew tone. i drove along the long road.

"whatever you need to do to get her out, do it. i'm sorry. i got to go."

"wait, cart-" but the line went dead.

i guess i did have to get rid of her.

any way possible.

my apartment door was wide open. i trudged in silently, keeping my eyes open for her. glass littered the hardwood. the tv screen was slightly leaning over. the small light hanging from the ceiling flashed.

i dashed to my room, burst the door open, and i felt my breathing began to escalate.

the last time i saw her, she was limp against the wall. she wasn't there anymore.

i gulped and closed the door back. i turned to face the messy living room. i sighed. maybe she had left. i had nothing to worry about anymore. then again, the apartment door was wide open. a smile formed on my lips.

"finally got rid of that bitch." i whispered.

a pain unexplainable struck my back, and i felt the heat of blood rising. i quickly turned around and saw her. her hair was matted with blood. dried blood covered her face and her body, also on her clothes.

i dropped to my knees, touching my back. once i pulled my hand in front of me, my eyes widened. a thick layer of fresh blood covered my fingers and palm.

"what'd you do?" i whispered. i felt myself becoming weaker. my eyesight dimmed. she smiled.

"oh, nothing. just cut you with a box cutter. nothing major." she said. she leaned against the bedroom door, touching the tip of the sharp --and bloody-- box cutter in her hands.

"why? why me?" i whispered. my mouth trembled. i could feel the blood pumping out of my back. was this seriously how i was going to die? some crazy bitch coming into my house and murdering me under my roof? i didn't think so.

"you could've just told me you loved me." she said, shrugging.

i gulped. "i love you."

the room went silent. she looked up at me from her box cutter. "really?"

"i love you with everything in me. i've always have, i was just...afraid of what you'd might say. i'm sorry, honestly." i added. she'd fall for it. i knew she would.

she was smiling. she dropped the box cutter and crouched in front of me, holding my head in her hands.

"we can be together forever." she whispered. her hands and breath smelled like blood.

"forever." i repeated. she giggled. i decided to lean in for a kiss, just for extra effect. she was falling for it. she leaned in slowly.

one of her hands cupping my face gripped painfully on my skull, and before i knew it, she threw my head into the wall of the apartment, and i heard her four words before blacking out,

"i'm not stupid, bitch."
