"look, azalia." i said, pushing her off of me gently. she looked up me. she had aged over the past couple of days. her hair wasn't the same intense color it had always been: it had dulled down. she looked calmer. her eyes dropped a little.
"we can't be together. i'm so sorry." i told her. she shook her head.
"no! we have to! please!" she intertwined her fingers, signaling she was begging. i shook my head solemnly.
"i'm sorry, azalia." i responded. she sighed.
"but why?" she asked, tears in her eyes.
"because. a girl like you just isn't for me. and after what you've done to me, i don't think i could ever love you." i spoke, honesty in my tone. she sighed once again and looked at the floor. she shook her head.
"you're right. i'm sorry. it's just...you know...i've never been loved. i think we've went over this already before i...uh..." she made a stabbing gesture at her stomach. i giggled.
"yeah. you feeling better?" i asked, wanting to change the subject.
"yeah, actually." she smiled for the first time. the first genuine time, at least. the others were that weird creepy one.
"well, sorry this couldn't work out." i said. she wiped away a falling tear.
"it's cool. i'm actually super sorry... for everything. i was just crazy. thanks for taking me in. giving me shelter." she responded.
"you're welcome." i smiled. she looked down the hallway, and then back at me.
"nice meeting you. i hope all is well for you." she said.
i nodded my head, replied. "you too, azalia. take care of yourself.", and watched her leave.
