My face was red and puffy, my nose was runny, I was a huge mess. But still, nobody cared. I was cryin' on the curb and nobody cared. Bystanders. Silly ol' bystanders walking on by so selfishly on their phones or jamming out in their cars.

I got up and wiped my eyes and I told myself it'll be okay. I began running to Bankriver High. The halls were empty. Classroom doors shut. Silence everywhere. Kinda like the old abandoned elementary school. But here the lights shone dimly. 'Shit!' I thought to myself knowing I was not only alone but late.

I walked down this cold and lonely hall to my first class, Algebra with Mr.Larry. I hated that class, it was so boring. I thought about ditching and that would be a huge mistake. Then I'd get beaten by my dad. I've ditched before and when my dad heard about it he gave me this scar on my left cheek.

I opened the door to my first class, shaking wildly and released the doorknob. I interrupted Mr. Larry, he wasn't going to be way to happy about that. Faces were staring at me as I walked in. I sat at my desk. Silence. Just plain silence.

"Miss Foster, your late!"Mr.Larry yelled, flipping his arms into the air, coming towards my desk, face enraged. He always scared me.

He slapped the ruler he was holding against my desk with an angered look on his chubby, old face, his brown eyes full of anger. I jumped. He gritted his braced teeth and leaned toward me. He grabbed my shirt by the collar and yanked me up so close to his face, I could smell what he had for dinner the other night."You ever be late again, you will regret the day you set foot in this sch-"

"Mr.Larry!" Principle Stevens said in shock as she held the door open for a boy. I was relieved. Mr. Larry gripped my shirt, tighter then he immediately let go and stood up and walked over to the new boy slowly, knowing he might be in trouble.

"Welcome!" He said to the boy, with a fake smile on his angered face. "Class, this is Lee." He said, pointing to the boy. The principal smiles then she nodded and turned around, quietly shutting the classroom door.

The boy was cute. He had brown hair with blue streaks perfectly aligned. His hair fell gently into his eyes near his glasses but I noticed his eyes first, a sharp demin blue. He had a bright smile that lite up the room. He had a black T-shirt on with the band SLIPKNOT on the front. He had dark blue jeans to match. His tennis shoes were black and maroon but not tied very well. He flipped his hair to the side to get it out of his eyes and not sticking to his glasses. He was somewhat chubby, though I had no problem with that. He had small but chubby legs and I wondered how they could lift him.

I stared at the boy, blushing dark. Then he caught me lookin' at him. I turned away. I didn't want him to catch an ugly girl like me staring. Lucinda glared at me but the smirk on her face said otherwise. I rolled my eyes.

"Lee, you sit here." Mr.Larry said. Lee sat next to me. I looked at him. He looked back. My cheeks were hot from blushing. He smiled and his ears turned bright red along with the tip of his small nose.

Lee chuckled, a kinda laugh that sounded as if you had a dry throat but was infectious. "Hey, whats your name?"He asked me. He looked at me and I couldn't just turn away from him. I stared, making it quite awkward.

Lucinda piped in with a big smirk on her face. "Her name is slut face."She said, proud of her rude comment. She glared at me as if to say this ones mine just like all the others. I smiled as if to say your wrong.

"I didn't ask you." He said cooly, frowning a bit.

"Emily, Emily Foster." I said. I leaned in close and he did the same."Thanks for defending me." I whispered, still blushing.

"Quiet!" Mr Larry shouted, making me jump but not him.

He smiled and mouthed. "No prob!" He went back to looking at the board. I did the same.

"Everybody now please take out your notebooks and textbooks. Do what the instructions in black on the board say! Emily, you help Lee." Mr. larry said as he squeezed into his chair and sat down.He put ear buds in and listened to his music and pretended nobody was there

That, that was when chaos started in. The jocks in the back began laughing as if they were robots and making stupid jokes. Lucinda glared at me.

"Why don't I help?" She rolled her eyes. " Blondes are not dumb as they say."
