A couple of hours had passed. I've been at Lee's house since school ended. It's now seven thirty. Late if you ask me. My Dad is probely worried sick. But I don't really care, I like it here but then it still worried me.

Unless he's drunk out of his skull. Then he won't notice or care...or maybe he will. But does it even matter? I mean nothing to them. Nothing.

"Lee, Chase, Emily!"His mom called from kitchen. "Dinners ready!" I could smell it and it smelled like nothing ever before. But it reminded me of something.

"Kay! One sec!" Lee called not taking his eyes off of the TV. Now were playing Minecraft. We started an hour ago. "Damn creeper! I'm almost dead!" He screamed, crinkling his nose at the sight. He grunted in frustration.

"I told you we didn't have much time!" Chase said with frustration in his voice. Their dad was watching us since he 'needed' the TV next. He said the next football game that was on later was important so he could see if the Seaghawks won against the Packers.

"Kay your done." His dad said as he turned the channel to football. "The games on." He said, relaxing right in front of the TV.

"Dad!" Both Chase and Lee yelled and stared in shock at the TV. I snickered. Chase got up and turned the channel back to Minecraft.

"Damn! I'm dead! Thanks Dad!" Lee moaned as their Dad burst out laughing. He almost fell out and Lee's face brightened up a little. He started to have a fit of uncontolable laughter. Chase started in and so did I. Lee then fell on his face.bHe buried his face into the tan carpeting. He got up and shook himself. He ran into the kitchen. Chase and I exchanged looks and followed into the kitchen.

I sat down in the middle of Chase and Lee at the round table. I gotta admit, I was hungry and I could see it in their eyes too. At least this dinner will be better then Dad's ever could be.

"Molly! Ginger! Dinners ready! Come in here and eat!" She yelled. One dog came running in followed by a little nine year old.

"Aw! Come on! The game just started!" She wined.

"Emily, this is Molly."She pointed at the big bull dog as she sat down. The dog gobbled up her food over by the fridge and I smiled.

Steaming bowls of chicken and dumplings were set in front of our faces. It was still really hot. The smell made my mouth water from delight. Boy, was I hungry! Glasses of water were stuck next to them. She handed each of us a napkin. Silverware was set ontop of the napkins.

She sat down next to me. She began to eat."Good huh, Chase?" She said smiling as Chase snorted food out of his nose. We laughed, he glared, grabbing a napkin.

"Whatever!"He said, embarrassed. He started to blush. I smiled at him. He smiled back, cleaning himself up and sat it down again.

I began to eat again. I sipped my water. It was freezing but refreshing. Ice cubes floated in it. I sipped to fast that I got a brain freeze.

"Brain freeze?"Chase asked. He could probely tell by that look I made.

"How'd you know?" I asked crinkling my nose.

"The look on your face." He said with a laugh.

I actually feel happy. I don't want to leave. Ever. These guys are like my real family. Their father is like my dad. A sense of humor, kind. Their mom is what I've always wanted. Their Dad doesn't get drunk like mine does. But then again not every family is perfect and things happen behind closed doors.

"Emily, wanna help Lee with the cookies?" She asked as she ate gently.

"I'd love to!" I said with enthusiasm. I liked to bake and since I rarely got to, I had nothing to complain about.

Dinner was finsished and everybody left. Lee was stuck with me alone. I looked around nervously. He did the same. Then our eyes met as he turned to the sink. He stopped and blushed and did a sheepish smile. I laughed a little.

"What are you waiting for?! Lets get bakin'!" He said with enthusiasm and immediately slid over to the fridge and opened it, the door hitting his right toes. "OW!" He yelped. I giggled.

"What?" I asked in between a giggle.

"It hurt me!" He cried.

"Aren't you supposed to be tough?" I exclaimed and he looked at me and we both laughed.

He carried out the supplies."Were makin' them by scratch. Its the way I was taught."

"Girls like guys that can cook." I said leaning on the table and watching him get the bowl and mixer out from the cabinets. He looked at me with a strange look on his face as if I said that one purposely, of course I did. I laughed a little. He cracked the eggs and in a few minutes, there was cookie dough. I looked at it then to him. He smirked. I got some on my finger and spread it on his nose and ran to the kitchen doorway.

"Hey!" He said and raced over to catch me but missed. I laughed. I ran to the counter and stood there. He ran to me with some cookie dough on his pointer finger and spread it on my nose."Were twins!" He said with a smile and I laughed.

I stopped laughing and looked at his smile then back up at his denim blue eyes. His smile began to fade as he looked back into my eyes. He stepped closer and smiled awkwardly.
