Beca’s POV

“Listen up ladies.” Aubrey clapped her hands. She walked back and forth, staring at each one of us like we were in military camp. Well, it does feel like it sometimes. We are back inside the auditorium after singing 2 more songs with the Trebles. Who knew both groups could actually work together. I was glad that Jesse handled our break up well. I think we could be just friends.

Aubrey’s vomit stain is still visible. Thank God it didn’t smell or else I would have vomited too.

“Today we are going to do something different.” She continued. “We are going to do something that past generations of the Barden Bellas had never done before.

               Everybody leaned in closer.

               “We are going to do...”

Now everybody was on the edge of their seats. I saw Fat Amy in the corner of my eye jumping up and down with excitement.

               “Du-ets.” Aubrey emphasized.

               We all cheered.

“This is going to be so great!” I heard Stacie say.

“Oh my gosh Aubrey!” Chloe walked to her. “This has been your greatest idea ever!”

               Aubrey grinned. “I know.”

“So, to be fair,” Aubrey picked up a magician’s hat on the chair right next to her. “Each of you will pick a piece of paper inside this hat and each paper has each of you name. The name that you will pick will be your duet partner. Fat Amy, you’re up first.”

Amy ran up to the front as fast as she could. She was still bouncing up and down.

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!”

“Calm down, Fat Amy!” Aubrey put a hand on her shoulder. “Now hurry up and pick a piece of paper.”

Fat Amy reached into the hat. “Stacie!” she shouted.

:”Oh no.” I heard Stacie groan next to me. “Why?” she whined.

“This is going to be so great Stacie!” Amy hugged her. “We hot mommas should stick together!”

               “Yeah.” Stacie rolled her eyes.

               “Lily O” Aubrey called.

Lily got Chastity, the beatboxer. That’s something. I wonder what song they are going to pick since nothing literally comes out of their mouths.

“I will be the next one to pick.” Aubrey announced.

She took a piece of paper and slowly opened it.

Aubrey’s POV

I was excited about this project of mine. More than the other Bellas. To tell you the truth, I did this for me, not for them. Yes, I have a secret agenda for making this little project. But that doesn’t mean they would ever know about it. Four pieces of paper were left inside the hat. I picked the one on the upper side, confident that it is the right choice. I smiled. I saw that the first letter of the name started with a C. I opened it slowly and became disappointed as soon as I saw whose name is it. My face fell. Cynthia Rose.

               “Cynthia Rose.” I said.

Cynthia Rose’s eyes widened. I could tell she’s also disappointed. “Oh hell no!”

               “The feeling’s mutual.” I thought.

“Oh hell to the no!” Cynthia Rose reacted. “Oh hell to the n-o!”

“Oh hell to the y-e-s!” I snapped. “I know that we’re not really the best of friends but I’m dealing with it and so should you.”

“You telling me what to do?”

She looked at me like she was saying “What are you telling me?” but I chose to ignore it. It’s for the best.

“Ok, Beca.” I said instead.”It’s your turn.”

“Excuse me,” Cynthia Rose said. “But we’re still not done here.”

               “Oh yes we are.”

Beca stood up from her seat and slowly made her way to me.

               “No pressure.” I said smugly.

She smiled fakely and rolled her eyes.  I don’t know why but there’s something about her that I don’t like. Is it her hair, is it her clothes or is it her voice?

As she reached for a piece of paper, she suddenly smiled to herself. She opened it and her face glowed all at once.

“I got Chloe.” She said, waving the piece of paper.

               Chloe jumped. “Yay!”

She ran to hug her. I felt my head boiling. How many times do they have to hug in one day? Chloe is still giggling gleefully and Beca was laughing with her. I had to do something.

“Ok, ok. That’s enough you two.”

I felt Beca rolling her eyes at me again. I wish her eyes would roll up to the insides and never go back again.

Beca’s POV

“Ok, Beca.” Aubrey said to me. It’s your turn.”

I felt butterflies inside my stomach. I was hoping to get Chloe. It would be perfect. She and I alone together during practices, singing our hearts out. I don’t mean for anything to happen between us. I know that.  I know she dates a hundred guys. But if something does happen, I would be the happiest girl in the world.

               “No pressure.” Aubrey said.

I reached inside the hat. I took a deep breath before slowly opening the little piece of pink parchment paper. I know I shouldn’t be this nervous. It’s only just a duet. It’s nothing big.

Finally, I peered into the paper and felt my face lit up.

“I got Chloe.” I happily said.

Chloe jumped from her seat and ran to hug me. I will never get tired of this. Chloe kept telling me how excited she is to do a duet with me and I said I was too.

“Ok, ok. That’s enough you two.” Aubrey said sternly pushing us apart. She gestured for us to go back to our seats. Bitch. Why does she have to ruin this moment for me?

After everybody was done picking their duet partners, Aubrey went into the back room and pullet out a rolling white board. She uncapped the marker and wrote in huge letters the theme for the duets. Song Titles with the Word Love. Perfect.
