"You scared?"
Whipping her head to the direction of the voice Mars Ringlet, self-proclaimed bad-ass, winced when her neck cracked.
Sonic snickered, and offered her a smile.
"Not particularly," she chuckled, shrugging her shoulders at the blue hedgehogs comment. "I've seen him around school before."
"You said they don't know you though?" Sonic asked, seeking further confirmation.
The metallic-orange cat nodded, idly playing with her many bracelets that adorned her wrists as they walked through the brightly lit corridor. "Amy helped me out once or twice, but I doubt the thought of me stuck."
A low sound came from Sonic's throat, making Mars look at him, smiling fondly at something in the distance. "Don't be so sure."
She didn't have time to ask what the hedgehog meant, before he announced that they'd arrived to the interrogation cell.
"Ready?" he asked, folding his fingers in a fist.
"Let's get it." she breathed, slipping a piece of gum in her mouth to help ease her nerves.
Four heavy locks clicked out of place, before the large door was opened by their accompanying guards.
When the door was finally opened, Mars only looked at the back of her former classmate's head, tipping her head to the side in confusion.
"This him?" she asked, airing her gum before it snapped loudly.
"Easy," she felt herself smile.
Mars dug into her confidence, knowing her talent wouldn't fail her, and sat across from the wolf, first admiring his raggedly handsome looks.
"Agent Ringlet." she introduced, putting her paws on the table, easing into her comfort zone. Her bangles clashed against the metallic table, capturing the wolf's attention.
She read his uncertainty; he didn't have a single clue who she was.
"I'm here to pick ya brain." she explained, a chuckle shaking through her.
It was always fun to lean a thing or two about the people she met. Though it was deemed as disrespectful and useless in her village, Mars never cursed her gift.
"Who's your friend?" Shade asked, inclining his head backwards to Sonic. The hedgehog didn't flinch when his presence was made known, his glare only intensified.
Mars shifted uncomfortably, she was glad it wasn't focused on her.
"My boss you mean." she chuckled, remaining calm, and doing her best not to give his identity away.
"This is my first day." she admitted, excited even. "You're gonna help me prove to him that I'm as bad-ass as it gets."
"Really?" he snorted, looking at her from head to toe. "You don't look like a threat to me, " he scoffed, looking at her dead in the eye.
Gotcha!
The first thing she searched for was his name, it didn't take her very long to tap into his secrets at the forefront of his mind, once she got past the fear and uncertainty questions bouncing around in his head.
She wasn't phased at his comment when she found it, her grin only spread wider. "If you say so Shane." she shrugged, leaning on the back of her chair casually. "Couldn't you have found a better alias to go by? Shade is sooo close to Shane."
She noticed his body stiffen. "How did you-?"
"Know you're real name?" she asked, quizzically, staring right into him. "You're an open book son." she grinned.
But just as quick as they word left her mouth, it opened another brach she hadnt been looking for. AA small grey wolf came into veiw, nestled in a corner, reading abook larger than her.
"Your sister loved books."she spoke softly.
"Are you-get out of my head!" he barked, completely freaked out.
Mars knew she was in trouble when Shade started panicking, askign himself questions, all of them hitting her all at once, and opening memories and flash backs she hadn't planned on looking to just yet.
"I'm in too deep now.." she apologized, tears dripping from the corners of her wide eyes.
She couldn't find herself to break free of her hold on the damaged wolf before her; his images, and memories clashing with her own, made her feel obligated to get to the root, the main core of it all, to at least try and find a solution-
She saw their play fights, saw his exile, his failures when he'd been found, his grandmother who'd raised hi, flashes of experimenting, and agony, and then the explosion-
"Gyaah!" she squealed, holding her head tightly, before all her energy was completely drained from her.
Mars felt her body shake uncontrollably, as the images continued leaking through her, tears streaming down her face.
"Little One" a soft caress of a voice called out.
Mars looked on, at noting in the distance of her subconscious, a Lilly-white Wolf was standing in the dark, she guessed Shad'es grandmother.
"What happened?" she heard herself ask, her voice nothing but a quiet echo in the dark.
"What happened to his siblings?" She asked below a whisper. "Why is there so much pain here?"
"Axle and Mia." the wolf smiled sadly, looking upwards, as if to compose herself.
"They were killed."
