This is War | Chapter 7 - [Flashback]
How many weeks has it been? Timothy thought to himself. After so long he was beginning to lose count. Six? He thought. Maybe. But he didn’t know, but what he did know was she wasn’t home. He needed her home and the police weren’t doing a good job of finding her.
Hannah’s parents traveled back home a few days ago. Timothy couldn’t deal with them anymore, so he thought they should be waiting in their own home and he would call them if anything changed. But so far nothing had. When he did receive a phone call, the detective told him nothing new was found.
He was so afraid they were going to give up and close her case. Please, don’t. Timothy thought to himself. His house was so empty to him. Usually Hannah was here almost every day. The house was quiet and bare. He wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself. He only ever talked to Gavin and Allison. He didn’t know many people here because he was new.
While he had been dating Hannah for three years, he had only lived here for two months. He took the step of moving here with her when she had to go back from her vacation. His remembers the day he met her like it was yesterday.
**************
Hannah was walking along the sidewalk of her hometown in Montana. She was only twenty-two at the time. It was a nice, bright sunny day. You got many of those here. This is her week of vacation and she’s spending it with her parents. And now she’s just glancing the town to see how much has changed since she moved.
Then, she felt her body hit the ground after bumping into someone. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry.” She heard a man’s voice speak. She looked up and he was holding his hand out to help her. She took it, and soon she was facing him. “Are you okay?” he asked her. Hannah looked into his face. “Yes, I’m fine.” She replied. “I should really start paying attention to where I’m going.” He told her, making a giggle escape her mouth. “I’m Timothy.” He introduced himself. “Hannah.” She told him.
“It’s nice to meet you, Hannah.”
“You too, Timothy.”
Both had bright, happy smiles on their faces.
****************
A grin appeared on Timothy’s face as he thought of the day they met. What broke him away from it was the sound of his front door opening. “Timothy?” Gavin’s voice spoke. “Right here.” He called to him. Soon, Gavin was standing in the same room as him. “How are you?” was Gavin’s question. “Not good, it’s been six weeks and she’s still not home.” He replied, but all Gavin knew to do was nod.
“Where’s Allison?”
“At work.”
Timothy nodded.
“Have you worked any?”
“No, my boss just told me to take some time off.”
“They didn’t fire you did they?”
“Of course not. I’m one of the best lawyers they have, they can’t fire me.”
Gavin chuckled.
“What? I am.”
“Then you can be your own lawyer when you get arrested for murder.”
Timothy laughed; something was finally making him feel better. “I didn’t think of that.”
“Us and Allison will both be trying to kill him.”
Timothy nodded.
“Everything’s going to be okay, Timothy. She’ll be okay.”
“I know, thanks, Gavin.”
“Have they told you anything else?” Gavin questioned. But it made Timothy think for a moment. “All I know is they found her car, but it’s been a few weeks and it hasn’t led to where she is.” He told his one friend. “Thanks sucks.” he replied.
*****************
Timothy jolted towards his phone as he heard it ringing in his bedroom. Every time it did ring he always hoped it was the detective or Hannah…
“Timothy?” was spoken into the phone as he answered it.
“Yes, Detective?” he spoke, already recognizing his voice.
“It’s hard to say this, but…”
He began to freak out on the other end of the phone. “What? What’s wrong?” he interrupted the detective.
“We found a body.” And with those words, Timothy felt the phone fall from his hand and his knees hit the ground. “Hello? Timothy?” he heard come out of the phone that was lying on the floor. Tears filled into his eyes. He couldn’t bear to pick up the phone again. “Timothy.” He heard once again.
He let a minute go by before picking the phone up and placing it against his ear. “I’m… I’m… listening…” he spoke softly. “We have identified that body yet.” He was told. “Could… could it be her?” he slowly and softly asked.
No reply right away.
“Please… please tell me.”
“It matches her description.”
And again, he let the phone drop and busted out into more tears and louder crying. And as soon as the detective sighed on his end and hung up the phone, Allison came through the door. She looked around, and when she heard his crying she entered his room.
“Timothy?” she asked, confused at why he was crying.
He looked up at her. “They found a body.” He spoke with the tears rushing down his face.
“What?”
He nodded his head. Allison knelt down the ground and wrapped an arm around him, beginning to cry herself.
