   I WALK AWAY

I WALK AWAY.

I'm not sure why yet. I never said I didn't like the kiss, but I don't love it either. Something feels heavily wrong. It shouldn't have happened. And the fact that Nate was drunk while kissing me makes me feel disgusted.

Nate is my phone stealer. But why did he get drunk? Especially tonight. It's meant to be important.

I still haven't processed it well enough. I sure as heck wasn't expecting that. Nate is usually so candid and open. Why did he wait till the party to reveal himself?

I don't know what to think.

"Eva!"

I don't answer. In fact, I start running so that Carla doesn't catch up with me because of her heels.

I stop and properly open my eyes. I feel like I've run five miles. I look around, realising I'm just a couple of blocks away from the house, the music just a tad bit faded.

I take a short breath as the cold air makes me shiver from head to toe. These are the times I wish I listened to my dad suggesting I bring a jacket. I close my eyes, remembering the last events just five minutes ago. My thoughts are screaming, Nate is Phone Stealer, with a question mark.

I haven't realised a car pulling up beside me on the road until the door closes, a sound that makes me hit the surface and demand for air.

I jump a mile away and squint my eyes, trying to distinguish who's figure and black car that is.

The figure gets out of the car.

"Sam," I whisper unconsciously.

Sam silently takes a step closer so that he's leaned his back on his car, facing me. I search for his eyes in the dark. He's being awfully quiet, his dazzling gaze on mine, biting his lip as he stares at me.

He's watching me as if he's done something wrong. He crosses his arms, a foul expression on his face, almost scowling. He seems furious, disturbed—but serene at the same time.

He sighs, leaning his head against the hood of the car and momentarily closing his eyes.

The wind snaps yet again, making me shudder whilst Sam seems to enjoy the cold breeze. His cold eyes dart to me suddenly as he motions his car with a nod.

"Get in."

He turns around and gets in himself. I pause, listening to my mind and heart arguing.

I decide not to waste another minute outside alone. I jump inside the passenger's seat, grateful that he already has warmed up the car. I take a look at my surroundings. I have never been inside Sam's car before, and apparently, no one has either. It's thoroughly clean and seems brand new.

I steal a glance at Sam whose eyes are fixed on the road. He seems deep in thought, his thumb rubbing his lips, sighing multiple times. He rubs his hand on his black jeans, then brings it back up to his lips.
