I clenched my fists as sweat began forming in my palms. Nervousness was threatening to devour me from the inside. Why was I feeling so nervous? Was it because my exam results would be released that day? I finished my papers peacefully, didn't I? What could have possibly went wrong? A forthcoming sensation of pain weaved its way through my body like a spider weaving a web, trapping me in a web of thoughts. Was I just scaring myself due to unnecessary stress? Probably, since the results were releasing that day.
As I walked down the school hallway, a familiar voice called me from the back.
"Hey, Jewel!"
"Sup Cassidy!"
"So...The results are gonna be released todayyyyyy!!! Everyone has been dying to see them because the papers were sooo easy! Aren't you excited?!"
"Kind of... I am not really excited or crazy about it haha..."
"Gurl you are always so calm when everyone is going nutssss! But whatever you are, I still love you bae! Gotta go! Seeya!"
With a wave of her hand, Cassidy left for the library. Cassidy was my bae ever since elementary school. She always had that lively personality that could brighten up the whole place and usually gains more attention than me, but I didn't really mind. I was happy with the way I was, just that...
I was really bad at my subjects.
That year was my first year in highschool, and I barely passed my tests! Ever since elementary school, my results were pretty bad, despite the fact that I worked soooooo hard that I almost fainted one night. To me, getting good grades were impossible, and I didn't know why. As I grew, I got used to these little failures. For this exam, I had worked reallyyyyy hard to do well, and as the saying goes, "Hardwork comes with success" right? This time, I was sure that I would do well. Better than my grades at first semester. I just didn't understand why I sensed so much regret and pain at that moment. It felt like pain that could tear me completely inside. It wasn't the first time I experienced such feelings. Ever since the day I finished my exams, that feeling had been there, but it was minor at that time, but now, it felt so strong...So...
Dangerous.
"Attention to students of Reinsky High, the exam results are out. Please proceed to the Great Hall to see them. Be reminded that all of you are required to queue orderly according to your class to receive your results. If you don't obey the rules at the Great Hall...DETENTION!"
The voice echoed from the school speaker.
That was it. The time to receive my results.
Excitement wanted to fizzle in me, but somehow, I didn't feel that way.
Pain and fear engulfed me.
Why? Why can't those feelings just leave me alone?!
