Chapter 18

Katie's POV

I awoke to Michael shaking me awake. He looked really worried and he was saying something. All I heard was "baby missing" and j shot out of bed. I was pulling on clothes and he was calling Jamie.

I ran out into the street and ran to the police station. I was wearing some tiny pink shorts that barely covered my bum, a white crop top and my hair was in a messy bun. I had no shoes or socks on, and I didn't realise just how much my feet hurt on the boiling hot pavement until I caught my foot in some green glass from a bottle smashed from the previous nights partying.

Red blood oozed from the cut on the sole of my foot, I sat down on a nearby bench and an old lady passing by handed me a handkerchief. I smiled a thanks and wrapped it round my foot.

I then ran further to the police station. I went through the bright blue doors to the small desk at which a middle aged man sat behind a glass wall.

"My baby! She's gone!" I said. He came rushing out and led me to a room out the back. I heard him shout to someone and a woman came into the room. The man then left.

The woman was quite young, twenty-five probably, and she had platinum blonde hair.

"Hello dear," she smiled. I smiled weakly back. "Can you please tell me what's wrong?" I nodded.

"I-my baby. She's gone. My fiancee woke me up saying she wasn't in her cot," I cried.

"Ssh, it's okay, where is your fiancee?" She asked.

"At home I think," I said through the salty tears.

"Do you have his number?"

"Yeah," I handed her my phone and she found the number. It wasn't that hard seeing as I'd saved it under "I love this boy <3<3<3".

She left the room presumably to call him and I sat there just crying. I put my feet on the seat of the chair and tucked my head between my bare legs. The tears flowed down my face.

The woman came in not long after with Jamie, Mike and Hannah following her. They all came and hugged me and I saw Fletcher in the corner, sleeping in his car seat. He looked peaceful, sleeping like an angel. He looked so happy, just like Lila-May would have done when I put her down to her afternoon nap.
