OK just so you know, I've been sitting Here awkwardly talking to my Aunt Trish about my new highschool. Technically I haven't been going to school yet but only because Trish wants me getting use to California first. “So Anna, how's New Zealand?" My Aunt had asked me. God I wish she would really stop using my nickname. I pause briefly then reply shyly. “Well its OK I guess?" I say as I twiddle my thumbs, feeling quite awkward.
She shot me a confused look. “Whats ‘OK’suppose to mean?" Trish said rather curiously. Since I felt too lazy to reply I just simply shrug my shoulders not knowing what else to say. I know I should be talking to my Aunt more but the reason why I won't is because I haven't seen her since I was seven years old.
“Well okay then? How's your mother Anna? I'm sure she's been doing well?" Trish asked even more curiously. Man she doesn't stop asking questions ,but I don't blame her I bet she just wants to know how the family's going.
“Uhm? Well mums been great and all," I say feeling a bit uncomfortable for some unknown reason. A smile appeared on her face as she came to sit next to me on the couch. “I'm glad your staying here with me Anna, I've been so lonely these past years that I should of came home sooner,” Trish had said sadly.
Just like that I felt more like myself around her , only because she was talking to me more than usual since I've been here and her voice seems calm and soothing. Suddenly I hear my self start to blabber on to her.
“You could of came home if you wanted to you know , things kinda weren't the same without you," I say as I start to give her eye contact.
For the first time in ever I found myself actually looking at my aunts features of her face. Her eyes were a dark green, mixed with a bit of blue, her cheeks were the color of faded pink peaches and her mouth was was bent into a crooked but nice smile.
As I was busy studying her features she pulled me into a big bear hug. “I've missed you so much Anna," I hear her whisper in my ear. “I've missed you more," I say as I hug her even tighter.
Okay so that worked out better than I had expected but what can I say? My Aunt is a big softie after all.
Just as I thought things were getting better ,she brings up the subject of going to school tomorrow. Dang it!!
School. A major huge problem in a mega huge city.
