Lost in Italy

Chapter 14

Peyton paced the floor as they waited for the doctor to bring news of Antonio. After she had woken up she was told that the bullet just grazed her and wasn’t that deep and all she needed was stiches. Antonio was a different story though.

“Snow sit down or you’re going to open your stiches” Alec spoke softly it didn’t help that she was still wearing her wedding dress so she got sympathetic looks from everyone who set eyes on her, but she was to worried to notice it.

“Peyton he will be fine” Maria tried to comfort her “Then why haven’t we heard anything yet, he could be dead and it’s all my fault, I should have stayed away dealt with my problems not share them with him” She fell into her brothers arm and let out a heart breaking sob causing the tears that had dried up to start all over again.

They had been waiting for over two hours and heard nothing from the doctors yet. It was driving Peyton insane not knowing if Antonio would make it. The tension in the room as so thick a knife could cut through it.

A doctor walked in with files in his hands. “Augello family” he called out everyone stood Peyton in front. “That is us” Amelia had been silent since the shooting, only comforting Peyton and Maria.

“We were able to remove the bullet it didn’t pierce any of his organs” The family let out a collective sigh, Peyton watched the doctor who didn’t walk away “but?” the doctor looked at the family “but what has us concerned is the swelling that was caused when his head hit the ground. We have placed him in a coma so that the swelling goes down, we don’t want to take any chances”

“How bad is it?” Amelia asked “We won’t know for sure until the swelling has gone down, it could be as little as a concussion or as bad as nerve damage” Amelia broke down then she leaned into her daughter and cried her heart out “We won’t know for sure until the swelling goes down”

“Can we see him?”

Amelia took hold of Peyton’s hand and they followed the doctor into the room that held Antonio’s. Amelia rushed to his side and for the first time she let the tears fall that she had been keeping in. Peyton’s heart broke at that moment. “I’m so sorry Amelia this is all my fault I shouldn’t have let him help me”

She felt fresh tears start to fall. She walked to him and took hold of his hand “I’m going to fix this. I swear” she kissed his cold pale lips and walked to Amelia “Call me if anything changes I will be back as soon as I can”

“Where are you going? Amelia wiped her tears away “you need to be here when he wakes up, he will be looking for you” kissing the other woman on her cheek “I’m going to fix this and then I will be back before he wakes up.”

Peyton walked out to the waiting room “You can go see him now” Alec watched as his sister’s demeanor changed “Snow where are you going?” She turned to face her brother, the look on her face was one of anger and determination. “I’m going to fix this, I’m going home to deal with our father and Paolo I will be back. I just need you to do something for me though”

Every person in the building watched as Peyton walked through the doors of the company. Her heals making a harsh sound against the tile floors. She walked straight to the boardroom that held the man responsible for all her problems. Pushing the double so hard that they banged the walls interrupting the meeting being held.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t aware that my company had any meetings while I was away. You are all going to have to excuse my father and I we have company issues to deal with, and as of this moment Frost INC is no longer active until further notice”

The men and woman all left the room calling their lawyers to cancel any and all accounts with the company. Peyton watched as her father kept the smile on as he walked some people out. She sat in one of the chairs and waited for him. All issues were to be sorted out in this moment. She had better things to do than deal with this snake.

“Do you know what you have done? They were all knew clients that I worked overtime to ensure for my company” He all but yelled at her.

“First of all it’s MY Company something you seem not to understand. When the will came out stating that it was left to me I did you a favour by leaving you on as a board member but that wasn’t enough was it? No you just had to have everything couldn’t share or be happy with what you were given”

“He was my brother it all belonged to me, you are nothing but a child who doesn’t know what she is doing”

“So what do you do? You sell our information to the opposition hoping that the board would side with you and remove me from leadership?”

Michael said nothing just stared at Peyton. He had made sure that he covered his tracks. He even went to the extent as to frame one of the lower level employees.

“You used your key card to get into my office to get the files. You weren’t that careful”

“What are you doing back, Paolo said that he had dealt with you, that you were out of the picture?”

Shrugging Peyton stood up “But seeing as you want this company more than you care about me I’ll give you what you want”

Shocked by the news Michael didn’t say anything for a few seconds. A broad grin covered his face after the silence “I won” he stated in an ecstatic voice.

Peyton raised a brow and smiled at him you sure did. “So this is how it’s going to work. All the employees have quit and all the lawyers say that during the time that I was CEO anything and everything created during that time and three months after are legally mine, that means all clients and other companies interested are going with me to where ever I move to”

The smile dropped off Michaels face as soon as it had appeared. “What? They can’t leave they all have signed contracts”

“That is true, but their loyalty was never to the company, it was always to the CEO its states so in their contract. SO they will follow me to where ever I go even if it’s to another continent”

Peyton watched as Michaels face turned blood red “You can’t do this you are leaving me with nothing”

Feigning shock and putting her hand over her heart “I would never do that to the man who didn’t raise me, never loved me and try to sell me to the highest bidder. No I have more compassion than that. You still have the company name and this lovely building of course”

“I will get you for this, I will fight you for it all”

“You can try.”

Peyton walked away, before she was out of the room she turned to face him “He may have been your brother but he was my father, and even from his grave I know where his loyalties lie and that he loves me”

Michael watched as the elevators closed and just like that his life went up in flames.
