It’s been two weeks since her meeting with Antonio and it seems like it’s all gone to hell. Everything that could go wrong has. They had a traitor in their mists. Heads would be rolling if only she knew who to behead it would make things so much easier but no everyone claimed innocence it was frustrating as hell.

“Peyton relax ok you called him, he will call back ok it’s not the end.”  Peyton was pacing the floor of her office. News of a possible hostile takeover and someone selling private information on her company, to one of the other bigger corporations that wanted to buy her small company.

“Who would do this? Why would someone do this to us? I mean every person here has been loyal to this company. We all started out when we were nothing but an office space” Collapsing in her chair Peyton looked up. Her office had all the important people in her company her brother the CEO, Brian her finance guy and jack her computer specialist.

“Miss Frost” Peyton looked up at her assistant “You have a call on line one” taking a deep breath she was in no mood for the press. They had questioned how someone so young could run a successful company. She had decided to stay in the shadows not wanting people to think that she incapable of running a company and others turning away their business because of her, if it were a man they would be singing a different tune. “Gwen I don’t want to talk to the press I thought –it’s not the press” Gwen interrupted her “oh”

“Ok look I want all the heads of staff in the board room tomorrow at eight sharp” she said in a dismissive tone. “Hello” Good Afternoon Miss Frost” Her body went rigid hearing the Italian accent. She didn’t realise how wrong everyone sounded to her until she heard his voice again. “Peyton?” “Hi yes I’m here”

“I’m sorry I’ve been out of touch I had to go back home to deal with someone. I have just arrived back, what can I do for you?” Peyton didn’t know why she had called him but it seemed that he would do something like that so if it wasn’t him maybe he would know who would be interested in her company.

“Can we meet? It’s not something I would like to discuss over the phone” she said hoping that he would agree to meet. Waiting for his response she started drumming her fingers as the nerves started. “Yes of course when are you free?” She looked at her clock and saw that it was eleven. “I’m free for lunch is that alright with you” “Yes I will text you the details” “ok”. She hung up after that.

Antonio: Your office ten minutes

She smiled at the text how and when he got her number didn’t bother her. She was just grateful that she didn’t have to deal with the press. She went to freshen up in her office bathroom. She had been pacing for the most part of the morning so her feet were killing her, but she soldiered on.

She walked outside her office to let Gwen know to let Antonio through seeing that he didn’t have an appointment. “Gwen I’m expecting Mr Augello so let him through when he gets here, hold all my calls and IGNORE the press” she smiled at Gwen “Gladly” she could see that they were starting to work on her nerves.

She stood at her window and watched life go on in New York. He would be proud she thought he would throw caution to the wind and tell the press exactly where to stuff it. A small smile played on her lips. “I miss you” she whispered. He would be hurt by the thought of someone from the company stabbing them in the back.
