As my mind drifted off, I became happy, happier than I have in a long time. Tate made me feel things, good things, unworldly things.

My mind flashed white as I jolted up from an abrupt nose. Tate was immediately on his feet. I rubbed my eyes and looked up to see exactly who I didnt want to see— my dad.

His eyebrows were furrowed, obviously angered. "Avery what in the world!" He yelled at me. I shook my head.

"Dad we were just listening to music calm—"

He cut me off and moved onto Tate, "You need to leave. You shouldn't be in here and I think you know that, please." My dad said, defeated. It's almost like he felt bad for scolding Tate. Kind of like he knew how fragile he was.

Tate looked like the abused puppy. I was sad that the curious puppy disappeared. He walked over to my dad and stepped out of the door before saying. "What's that thing you think i'm afraid of? Fear of rejection?" He took a pause and then walked away.

My dad took a step closer to me. "Stay away from him!" he hissed at me.

I furrowed my eyebrows in complete embarrassment. "Dad, nothing—"

He cut me off. "YOU HEARD ME!" He yelled back and I shut up. That's the one thing i've learned over the years. Never fight back. I just stared at him in disgust.
