The bell rang. She snapped out of her daze and turned around to wake Leo up. Then she turned back around and watched the students file into the classroom. Her teacher, Mr. Oh, started the roll call. As the first name got called out, there was an unknown sound that perked her interest.
'That's weird.' She thought. 'Why does it sound like something's being strangled?'
Tristan looked around with curiosity, until finally, her gaze settled on one of her classmates. A look of horror was spread across her face. A dark, wispy creature with long, jet black hair  and rotting skin had a grim smile as its hands were firmly wrapped around the student's throat. He violently shook and jerked, gasping for air. The sound of many screams echoed throughout the school. Mr. Oh was lying down, passed out on the floor. Other students ran out of the classroom. Tristan stood there, shocked. Her face looked as if she were to throw up any minute.
"Come on!" Leo said. "Let's get out of here!"
She tried moving her legs. They shook in fear but didn't allow her to move. She continued to stare at the vile creature, not knowing what to do.
All of a sudden, her classmate stopped moving.
Tristan fell to the ground with a loud thump.
Leo stared in horror, he walked towards Tristan's passed-out body and firmly shook her to wake her up.
"Wake up Tris!" He said and continued to shake her.
She woke up and looked at Leo. He held his hand out. Tristan took it as he helped her up. She stood up and immediately ran out of the school while dragging Leo with her.
"Where are we going?" Leo asked.
"We're going to the library." She stated firmly.
They finally found the library and entered the AC-filled room. They walked around, trying to find the Horror/Ghost section. After a few minutes, Tristan turned to her left and motioned Leo to follow her into the section. They rummaged through the books.
"Try this one," Leo said as he handed her an old, and extremely worn down type of book. The front cover was close to being ripped off, and the title was barely able to be seen. Tristan hastily opened up the book, not caring if she ripped it. She quickly skimmed through the pages.
There it was.
She looked at the book and saw the exact same picture of that vile creature. Long, jet-black hair, a grim smile, and rotting skin.
"Here it is." She pointed at the picture. Leo looked at it over her shoulder.
"Karmen Winstead." Tristan read aloud. "Karmen was once this beautiful, teenaged girl. She was kind, caring and smart. However, she had one fatal flaw. She wasn't confident and got bullied because of it. One day, she was fed up with the bullying, and all of a sudden, she snapped." She said.
"What do you mean?" Leo asked worriedly.
"By snapped I meant that she started.." Tristan paused and deeply sighed. "She started killing people."
