Leo looked at Tristan with a fearful face.
"The book says that she started killing those who bullied her. Then she killed almost everyone else. Very few managed to escape." She said with a sigh.
"I really don't like this Tris," Leo said. His face going pale.
"Don't be like that." She said reassuringly. "Let's go home and try to forget about this."
Leo looked down. Tristan walked over to him and gave him a hug.
"Can you wait outside? I'm going to borrow this book." She told him.
Leo nodded and silently walked outside.
Tristan approached the librarian and waited for her to check out the book.
Soon after, she walked out of the library and met up with Leo. We walked home together in silence, rehearsing the events that happened today.
After about thirty minutes, they arrived at Tristan's house.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow." She said. "Don't let Karmen get to you."
"Yup. Cya." Leo replied and continued walking towards his house.
As She opened the door and walked into her house, her parents engulfed her with hugs.
"Thank god you're okay!" Mom exclaimed. A sigh of relief soon followed. She looked exhausted from stressing out.
"A student in your grade got killed, right?" Her Dad said fearfully. Tristan saw her mom approach the T.V. and turn it on from the corner of her eye. The three of them turned their heads and watched their small T.V. for more information.
"One student at Lakewood High School was reported murdered. Eyewitnesses said that the murderer had long, black hair and what seemed like rotted skin. Others said that the murderer was a ghost. Police officers are still investigating the scene. We will keep you up to date on the murdered student at Lakewood High." The news reporter said as Tristan's Dad turned off the T.V.
"That's enough for tonight." He said. His face looking pale.
"It's pretty late sweetie." Her Mom said. "You should go to sleep."
"Okay, Mom." She replied while slowly walking up the stairs.
As Tristan walked into her room, she tossed herself onto a bed and stared at the ceiling, remembering the day's previous events. She sighed deeply and drifted off into sleep.
She opened her eyes to a black room. All of a sudden, the lights flickered on, and in the middle of the room was a black cat with icy blue eyes and a long tail.
"Tristan." It spoke.
"Um...Yes?" She replied. Unsure of what would come next.
"My name is Whiskers. I believe that you've met my master?" The cat asked.
"Master?" I said questioningly. "Do you mean Karmen?" That name sent a shiver down Tristan's spine.
"Yes. Karmen was my owner. She was a sweet, bold, and courageous girl. Just like you, Tristan. As you already knew, she had one fatal flaw, which was her confidence. Popular kids at her school were constantly bullying her about it. They made fun of her when she had to present in front of the class. She'd always end up running away and crying her eyes out." Whiskers said as Tristan paid close attention.
"However, there was one thing that the book you borrowed from the library did not mention. It just stated that Karmen snapped, right?" The cat asked.
"Yea," Tristan replied.
"Well, before Karmen went berserk, her parents died in a car crash. When she found out, she became devastated and depressed. I was the only one she had left. At that point, she hated everything and everyone. She looked terrible. Dark, bags was clearly visible underneath her eyes, her hair was extremely messy, her clothes were dirty and worn." Whiskers said. "One day, she went back to school. I didn't know why. Unfortunately, one of the popular kids brought up Karmen's parents and made fun of their deaths. Then, she snapped. She attacked the student until he was no longer moving. If others were to try and stop her, she'd attack them too. It got completely out of hand, that the police and the S.W.A.T team had to interfere."
"One of the police officers held his gun out," Whiskers said, close to tears. "The officers pulled the trigger with a loud boom. There she was, laying there along with many other bodies. Warm, dark red liquid pooled around her lifeless body as her eyes rolled back into her head."
Tristan stood there in shock. "How do you know all of this?" She asked.
"I was always there, following her." The cat replied.
"Do you know why she's killing people again?" Tristan asked, anxious to know.
Whiskers paused for a moment as if was contemplating on what to say.
"I need you to go back in time to stop her from going crazy." Whiskers said.
"What?!" She exclaimed. "Why me?"
"She appeared directly in front of you when she strangled that student right?" Whiskers asked questioningly.
"Y-Yea," Tristan answered.
"Then Karmen must've wanted you to help her." Whiskers said. "There's a reason for everything."
