Chapter 9

Hello?

I answer the phone curiously.

Anita where are you? I went to your house with your mother but the place is all locked up and Destin's parents are talking crazy talk. Saying you two are a mated pair and flew off to France together.

My dad complains.

I am in France and we are a mated pair. I know things have gone fast but they just sorta happened so I decided to accept them and I'm not going to deny my mate. Blaze told us to be together, so we are. You don't have to understand or approve.

Anita dear I wasn't going to scold you. I'm just worried. I spoke with your mother and Daniel may not be your father. You may have just been the first of our kind born wingless. We need to do a test but test are complicated.

A test?

Yes a test. Tell Danny... Daniel, I'll be there in a few hours and we'll have one done. But if he tries anything and I mean anything there will be hell to pay.

I shake my head as the speaker blares for my father to hear the message himself and we step back out into the long halfway.

I get it Peter. You'll come after me if I try to attack you. You don't have to worry. I'm not going to. I just want to prove she's my daughter. You know she's mine. That's why you don't feel her and I do. I've felt the bond with her since she was conceived. You just wouldn't stop running so I could tell you.

You were trying to kill me and my family. Why would I talk to you.

I wasn't trying to kill you or your family but nobody would tell me where you were so they were executed for their silence. Plus it's not like I had one of your children killed or something.

That's when the silence fell so I speak up.

What about my brother? You had him killed after his tournament and by his own mate.

My father looks at me then shaking his head as my mom and dad muddled noises over the phone.

I didn't have him killed. In fact, didn't his body disappear before you could have a proper pyre for him?

Yes. What did you do with his body Daniel? Why would you steal my son's corps?

Well for one I didn't steal your sons corps. Justin's alive and well. He has been living here with his new mate for the past year. He thinks you're coming here to visit. I had my doctors save his life and I had his attacker destroyed. She was an easy kill.

I look at Destin shocked by this news.

My brothers alive?! Where is he?!

The words come out before I can process everything and Destin squeezes my hand as my now father looks at me.

He's not your brother dear, but yes he's alive. However, I understand the confusion. You have been lied to your entire life. Yes Justin's is alive and well. I heard he was going to be in the German tournament so I sent a couple of my guards to collect him but that girl froze him and attacked him before they could get to him. He never had a chance to defend himself. I don't believe he even knew about her freeze talent. He refuses to even talk about her now.

That's when my mother speaks up.

You mean to tell me you've had my son this whole time and haven't contacted us? Daniel, how could you?

The look on his face is priceless. As he puffs with a smirk.

Oh how funny those words are coming from you dear Tracy. Aren't you the ones who's kept my daughter from me for the past 5 years? Had she not learned for herself that I am her father she wouldn't have come here and this conversation wouldn't be taking place. Now I suggest you and Peter come and if you'd like we can take that test but the three of us know who her true father is.

Daniel you will not address my mate. The two of you will speak through me. I will not have you communicating with one another again.

I hear my mother huff but my father just shakes his head unmoved by this rule.

If that's your wish Peter so be it. Anita has brought her birth certificate with her and I'll gladly take a test to see who her father is. My doctor is in the other building so I'll go now and have him take care of things so all we'll have to do is wait for you to be tested.

We already have everything to do the test from when she had the babies. So our doctor here at our hospital can check here. There's no need in putting the test off. I want my son back Daniel!

That will be up to Justin. He's living here by choice. I haven't forced him to stay. He's with his mate and they're due to have a child in a couple months. You are free to visit them any time you wish.

I hear my mother mumbling something but my dad tells her to be quiet so she puffs then I hear a door slam. So I speak up.

Look this isn't the time for you guys to sort this out. We'll go do the test here and you take care of it there. Whenever you get the results call me but until then well, we're staying here and getting to know this side of my family. If by chance Daniel isn't my father then so be it. But if he is then I didn't waste my time or my children's. Now I love you guys but I'm hanging up. I'll call you when we get the results if we don't hear from you first. Love you bye.

I hang up and look at my family then my supposed father.

Look I don't want to be put in the middle of your fight with my family so can we just get this test done and over with so we can move on. I want my children to know who to call family and who not to.

He nods with a smile then gestures toward the door  and the group of people.

Yes, I agree but first I must address our family. Oh and I know you're my child. There's things a father knows and I know you're mine. I can tell by the feelings I have. Your mine and your mother knows it to. That's why she was sending me photos of you as you grew and as you ran from me. Peter had to have known something wasn't right when you were born. You didn't have wings and he didn't feel the connection. I have a picture to prove it. Come now, we have a family meeting and they're all very eager to meet you. Oh by the way. Who was it that you said told you about me and convinced you to come here?

I look at the group hearing Bonnie near the door and grin.

That would be our cousin Bonnie. She was our nanny. She actually tried to kidnap Cary and Kevin but the high royal king and queen stopped her. I stopped them from killing her for her crime.

He chuckles with a slight nod while looking at Cary and Kevin then shakes his head.

You know she was only trying to get you here right? No harm would've come to your children. I wouldn't have allowed it.

I try to smile but to me she still tried to steal my children and that doesn't sit well with me

Yes well she could've told her instead and she would've listened. Anita isn't unreasonable. She would've came if Bonnie would've just told her. Stealing her children was the wrong way to go about things and my princess doesn't take that lightly.

No young Destin. She was just trying to help her find her true family. This was drastic but necessary.

Okay, so if we take your children and run off with them because we feel they're in danger. That's okay because it's necessary and it can be taken lightly. Therefore no punishment will be given.

They bicker back and forth about this briefly until I get irritated and speak up.

Okay that's enough. Bonnie took our children and she wasn't punished but she should be. It shouldn't be taken lightly no matter the case because she could've just told me about my family and my children missed out on the last precious moment with their father  because of her taking them. Stealing children isn't okay but you two bickering over it isn't going to solve it either. Now can we just get this family meeting over so we can go do the damn test already?!

They all look at me stunned by my annoyance but my father nods then the butler Maliki gestures toward the front of the room so we all follow.
